1) Get rid of the concourse breeze blocks, plaster and put some pics up of old RFC players etc.
2) More alcohol kiosks
3) Nicely tiled toilets
4) Rubber grip flooring (in blue)

Deathy I would name the stands after previous Reading legends.

I know money bollocks doesn't want to direct attention away from himself, and his usual excuse of sponsors, but you can work with both.

The Robin Friday [insert sponsor] South Stand for example.

One thing I hate about us since moving to that ground is we don't try and remember where we came from!

It would cost the football club nothing.

Long wanted the club to do this, the fans could vote for the 4 most popular names and it would nice, simple and FREE (until someone then says why does the name "The Maurice Evans Stand" not appear on the outside of the stand somewhere, it should do).

Whore Jackie Move it to within reasonable walking distance of the town centre and station, surrounded by a decent selection of pubs and takeaways. Don’t know how practical that would be in Reading.

Well, if we're going down the fantasy route, rotate the entire stadium by 90 degrees, so the East Stand is now the South Stand, and put the away fans in the new East so they get the sun in their eyes.

Voila - the new South Bank.

Fairy nuff. Like I said I don't use it. Don't they have a corresponding number of disabled places to car park places? That would just be common sense to me

There are all the 'ambulant disabled' to consider. Many of whom can walk short distances but not from HP to the ground [or even B&Q to the ground]... Difficult to account for them as they are often only able to attend when they are well, which is seldom.

And remove the roof of the 'New East' so we can sing "You're getting wet, You're getting wet, we're not, we're not" when it rains. We'll also end up being louder than them even though there will be less of us singing.

royalexile What would you do.

Me - i'd change the ugly concrete walls inside the concourse. Montage the walls with the clubs history

me too, and STAR did get a volunteer to paint a mural but the club were very much against it. Still time to raise the subject again I think. As far as I am concerned the drabber the concourse the less likely people are to treat it with repect.

Time for another campaign then....the north stand would look good with blue and white hoops!

T.R.O.L.I.
Wycombe Royal In which case it doesn't work because as soon as you get round to the hotel you meet all the people coming round the other way (including the away fans)

But by that time, a good proportion of the people from the East and North stands are already on their way down towards the Bennet Road roundabout. I can't remember the exact reasons but I'm sure Dirk can enlighten us.

In Dirk's absence -it is not just to keep home and away fans apart it is to keep home fans away from the away coaches in particular. As it takes time to walk round the away coaches should have gone by the time the flood of people from the east stand get there, and even then they will all be coming from one direction rather than converging just by the coaches. Whether that is necessary of not, that is the reasoning.

Elm PArk I agree with both of those. Also, add a concreted path from the bottom of Hurst Way (next to the service road for Comets etc) sloping up to the area next to the STAR hut, giving easier access and exiting from the ground.

this was investigated a few years ago from what I remember of the discussion with the stadium manager it was extremely expensive, I think because of the extra work needed to make the slope safe and lighting it. It probably also went out the window when the extension was contemplated as the stadium would then have a much larger footprint that any work done there would be in the way.

I thought that might be the case, and I generally get round the ground just in time to risk my life walking down the road at the same time as the away coaches leave.

At the Palace games one of the stewards excelled himself by shouting "keep over to your left". He then told someone to shut up when he pointed out that he might get run over if he did that.

I'd expand the seats to a nice 30-40,000 stadium and put like microphones on the walls so when we sing it sounds mega loud
also lydl and aldi products served inside for really cheap prices
also change the stand names

phil parkinson stand
steve coppell stand
robin friday stand
madreadingfan stand :D

50k seater. Larger dugouts. Fireworks added to the roof before every home game played at night, so they can be let off at kick off. Add another screen somewhere, and make both screens HD. Have the lines on the pitch in blue, and the seats in blue and white hoops. Add a singing and standing section in Y24/5/6.

i would like to see the North Stand the 'main' home stand.

If you moved everyone from Y25/6 to the North stand, i guarantee you it would improve the atmosphere.

Note to Y25 - i used to sit there, good atmosphere at times, but the worst place in the stadium if you want to be heard by the rest of our support.

It wont happen though, everyone too stuck in their ways. the only reason that is the main 'singing' section anyway is because it corresponds to the old southbank, & when we moved everyone wanted it the way it was at EP.

Fully functional drum kit in all the corners, massive lasers from the roof along with a gigantic tower projecting the RFC badge all over town at night. Smoke machines in every block and slides to exist at the back off each stand. Some of my scaled back improvements anyway.

It's a goer. Supply a quote and we'll get the planning permission.

- Move it to central Reading.

- Make the East Stand a terrace

That'd be just fine.

Baines Terracing and a kiosk selling hot buttered toast.

But it would be cold and soggy by the time they'd figured out how to put the money in the till and what change you're due. £3 for a slice of toast would also be slated on here.
