Geekins But it's also like going to the theatre. Some people pay full whack while some people get the late tickets at reduced prices. Do you moan at them for buying the same ticket as you but for a tenner cheaper?
I don't moan at someone for getting a cheaper ticket than me at football let alone the theatre
Theatre tickets are different in any case because that is the accepted and normal way of tickets being sold. Football hasn't generally offered sales promotions on tickets to try and get people through the gate. Yes they've given tickets away to kids, and occasionally done things like kid-for-a-quid (although still relatively new to football) so its very different
Very few people buy a season ticket for a theatre. The theatre doesn't need that massive cash injection over the summer to see it through to the season and to help fund transfers etc so it's not really a very good comparison
As I said, I'm not too bothered by these cheaper tickets and promotions. I bought my season ticket to reserve my specific seat and to help the club out by giving them my money upfront. The savings I make by doing this is a consideration, but realistically it's a small one (especially as I don't even use it quite often these days). For some it's probably more of a deciding factor, and I can see why some might be a bit perturbed by the abundance of sales promotions flying around at the moment which means their savings might not be that great over the season
