Reports suggesting a Dutch Auction could well take place and that if a buyer is not found within a month, West Ham will face administration and a 9pt deduction.

Why 9? I thought it was 10 for administration? Or is it a point less in the prem due to there being fewer games?

Either way it would certainly be wrong for them to get the 30 some were talking about.

It's 9 due to their being less games in the Prem.

On two counts ..... apart from the glaring less/fewer mistake, it's 9 point because that's the number that the Pl member clubs decided to have as a sanction when they voted on it. I don't think there's any relation to the number of games, they just voted for that as a better number.

There is no science in this - it's just what the shareholders of each league decided - when the FL decided on the penalty, they had all 72 chairmen sat round a table a the AGM in Portugal and they each, in turn, called out what they thought the penalty ought to be. They ranged from 0 to 25, and all they did was take the nearest round number to the average of those, which happened to be 10 points. Don't for a minute imagine that there's any method or science in this....

West Ham in government bail out shock!!

Secret talks are being held that involve the government buying up West Hams debts, in exchange for a 70% stake in the club. Sources have indicated that the Icelandic Authorities tabled this idea as part of the deal to rescue UK taxpayers money from the Icelandic banking collapse.

Lord Trevor Brooking of Barking has implored the government to agree to the deal, stating that as West Ham won the World Cup in 1966, they have a place in everyones hearts. Stating that the club has a excellent track record of honesty and acting in the best interests of the game of football, Lord Brooking said that it was not West Hams fault that they are in the doggy doo, but that pointy headed fecker from Iceland
