TOTMFP

Geekins But it's also like going to the theatre. Some people pay full whack while some people get the late tickets at reduced prices. Do you moan at them for buying the same ticket as you but for a tenner cheaper?

Different ball game.

RFC needs to encourage people in while the theatre is likely to be over subscribed. At the theatre, you pay a premium for the guarantee of the seat while it's the reverse at RFC.

I don't moan at someone for getting a cheaper ticket than me at football let alone the theatre

Theatre tickets are different in any case because that is the accepted and normal way of tickets being sold. Football hasn't generally offered sales promotions on tickets to try and get people through the gate. Yes they've given tickets away to kids, and occasionally done things like kid-for-a-quid (although still relatively new to football) so its very different

Very few people buy a season ticket for a theatre. The theatre doesn't need that massive cash injection over the summer to see it through to the season and to help fund transfers etc so it's not really a very good comparison

As I said, I'm not too bothered by these cheaper tickets and promotions. I bought my season ticket to reserve my specific seat and to help the club out by giving them my money upfront. The savings I make by doing this is a consideration, but realistically it's a small one (especially as I don't even use it quite often these days). For some it's probably more of a deciding factor, and I can see why some might be a bit perturbed by the abundance of sales promotions flying around at the moment which means their savings might not be that great over the season

From a STAR point of view, we support incentives like this, because surely everyone wants to see a full stadium - it can only hlep the atmosphere and the club's finances, which helps us all.

BUT we believe that whenever possible any offer should also be extended to Season Ticket holders. A perfect example of how this can work was shown at the Plymouth match. It was Yound Royals for £1, and if any Young Royal was attending already because they had a Seasson Ticket they were entitled to bring a friend for £1 instead.

That sort of scheme is a win-win for everyone, so we think all pricing promotions should be extending to Season Tickets Holders as far as is possible - at least in some way which is of equivalent benefit and which helps boost attendances.

i completely agree with you

it is pretty stupid for the club to exclude season ticket holders from any offers that are put on tickets
so come next season if we are still in the championship more people will refuse to buy a ST
by doing this they can pick and choose which games they attend and get full access to the offers put on normal tickets

Au Contraire. Some people were desperate for us play in front of an extra 6,000 empty seats.

That really is a rather silly thing to say.

Comparing a full 24k with 24-26k and 4-6k empty seats but room to grow the attendence when they are totally different things is just weird.

My friend who works for John Lewis says they're being offered free tickets for games on a lottery basis. I haven't yet found out if this is for all games or just home ones, or how many tickets they make available.

All sponsors get a certain number of tickets for each match as part of the sponsorship package. It looks like Waitrose are redistibuting some of those amongst their staff.

I didn't renew this season, but have been to every game so far - fully aware that RFC always put on promotions to get the place full. I've sat in the same seat for each game, and expect that come end of season, it will have cost about the same as what the season ticket cost was...

Current offers:

£11.50 for first game

QPR free when bought with 2 others.

We'll see how many more there are...

Same...almost. I didnt renew because I couldnt make most of the midweek games, but I reckon my overall cost for the weekend games will be less or not much more than it would have been if I had a ST

Havent renewed and yet to miss a game either, its quite nice havnig the freedom etc.

ALways managed to miss at least one game a season at home due to something, don't think missing out that much at all,and Royalty points mean I'll never miss out on a big game anyway.

Not having a season ticket is the way forward for me..

Hope you have enough points for a seat if we go up, only need to sell 4k half st's, and it would not surprise me if RFC sold a good few in Nov/Dec if we are doing well, they would then get priority for renewal, there could be a lot of ex ST holders scratching for seats next season if that pans out.

It seems that RFC wont be doing half season tickets this year, as the last time I bought one about 4/5 seasons ago, i bought it early October - surely they are leaving it too late to advertise and process?

Details of another offer coming our way, for the Barnsley games:

http://www.barnsleyfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10309~1423340,00.html

£15 for both matches...

It would appear that Barnsley fans get the better end of the deal with ourselves having differen't concessionary prices (ie Under 12, 13-16, 17-21, 65 and over) compared to Barnsley's (Under 11, Under 18, Senior Citizen). Oh well, good to see clubs working together.

So you didn't buy one in 2005/06 then, which was 3 years ago?
They went on sale at the very end of October.

Too right it is. As ever he is talking rubbish, and will n ow defend it by changing his position completely over the next 2 pages of posts. Even those who wanted an increase in the size of the stadium were hoping for full stadiums (but were realistic enough to know that might not be the case every week). Just ignore the man - he is so self righteous it is painful.

i definitely feel a little ripped off as a loyal customer,
i know its good to get the ground full-but there needs to be some incentive for season tickets-
a free ticket if you get one for a certain game
4 pound off for tickets bought before 5 oclock today

any more discounts and everyone else will be getting their tickets for less than ST holders, and that cant be right

What are you falling for Brendy???? The £4 off a ticket before the day makes your ST look cheaper, not more expensive. 23 times match day price is 23x£27, so £621 for the season, what did you pay??
