Huntley & Palmer
Tinrib It's fine to keep this type of moronic look at me type post on AE were Gus usually posts his own brand of anal drivel, and you can all debate away till Gus's cows come home on the rights and wrongs of it.

But clearly the AE mega clique has started to dissipate up they're own asses, and needs somewhere new to glean a reaction from - (Noting TMD's Simod post ) - But for me The Team board aint the place.

So Mods, the question is'nt is this Racist - the question is - do we need this style post/debate on the team board.

For me the answer is no.

Good point, but will we get promoted and do you think Doyle will stay?

If only there was a thread for that discussion?

rhroyal I'm not sure Harper's black.

The same could and has been said of Obama! Mixed race or is the latest PC version 'mixed heritage'?

Tinrib, if you're not interested in this thread or think its a waste of time, simply click the back button and read a different thread. It has obviously been a successful thread judging by the amount of interest created and replies. The politically correct world we live in these days is starting to get EXTREMELY boring, and you're not helping! And in response to your question "do we need this style of post on the TEAM board"? Well yes, the question is about a TEAM. Enjoy your tea and biscuit.

PistolPete This thread isn't racist.

My All time blonde haired Reading XI:

----------Quinn------------Dixon-----------
Convey----Parky--------Caskey------Doyle
Shorey---Kromheer----Hunter----Ingimarsson
-----------------Hammond-----------------

Notable omissions-

Kromheer, Bodin, Butler

And how about a folically challenged Reading XI?

Got 'Wiggy' for the keeper, and I can also visualise but can't remember the name of one of our centre backs from the 70s but there must be plenty more! Jimmy Quinn probably also qualifies.

BTW, did the Ninjas agree to transfer Bodin and Hammond to your team? :wink:

SpaceCruiser This thread is racist. I only said it in the first place to wind up somebody. However, I see that Obama is actually of mixed race, i.e. both black and white, then it surely is racist to separate his colour? If you wanted to honour Obama, then maybe the thread title should be: "pick your all-time Reading mixed race XI".

1) By basing the team picks on race, that makes it racist;
2) There are no black people. We are all shades of brown;
3) The irony is that Obama did not win because of or despite his race. He won because he was the most thoughtful, honorable and self-aware candidate who will best represent the United States.

Richard I don't post very often but sometimes the lack of common sense on this board makes me seethe! :x

Racism = hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

This thread = celebration/recognition of a group of players with a common characteristic.

Would a thread picking the best team of Irish players be "racist"? Would a thread picking the best team of left footed players actively discriminate against those who are right-footed? Don't be daft. :roll:

ok good point :)

i cant take my vote back now

1) We are not picking a team to play a match (and therefore chosing to overlook 'lesser' white players) therefore it is not racist, it is purely an observational exercise, just as my (tongue in cheek) 'all time blonde XI' was an observational exersize.

Apart from that, your points ar good.

I couldn't agree more with Richard a post or two above me; I've been a member for something like 10 years and have made very few posts, but ignorance like the type seen in this thread is difficuly to ignore - the Mod included.

Apologies that this discussion is taking place on the team board by the way...

I've tried to compile a mixed-race England XI in the past and it's always CM that proves the problem

Ok, I'll give you that one. But considering the forum I think (even if the title says "In Honour of..") it can certainly be read either way.
