West Stand Man ....parents thrusting their kids into the road in order to stop the traffic

If you seriously think this is the case then you should take a long hard look at yourself before you hit someone, or someone plants a size 12 in the side of your car.

It's impossible to generalise against one group of people or another - amongst car drivers there are dangerous and selfish dickheads and amongst pedestrians there are dangerous and selfish dickheads.

Many times I've seen car drivers not giving way for groups of pedestrians who are in the road, and I've also seen pedestrians not only playing "chicken" by dashing across the A33 when it's clear but also groups with families trying to force their way across the road in front of moving traffic.

There's no "us and them" in this - get any crowd together and it will contain a small percentage of utter idiots.

Why do you always have to be so unrelentingly fair and sensible?

Can't you at least add a caveat that all BMW drivers are wakners though? Go on, I know you want to.

That'd only be stating the bleedin' obvious - everyone knows that!

ps.

I am one of those boring old farts who lets the pedestrians cross because that is the safest thing to do; it just pees me off to see idiot parents using their kids as a bargaining tool in the game of 'right of way'. DG is, of course, quite right in suggesting that there are idiots on all sides of this fence, and the drivers who accept the challenge and nudge pedestrians out of the way are no better.

Oh, and yes they are often BMW drivers; except when they are 4 wheel drive "never been off road in case it gets muddy" types (in particular Porsche Cayennes of course). I have often pondered buying a BMW just to see if you do get offered a course in driving like a prat as part of the deal. I am pretty convinced that you do in Germany :D and that Opel drivers get a similar deal over there too.
