If Man City were to get relegated........

by jocombes » 21 Dec 2008 20:18

How many fans would they have left?

How many of their fans would go and support United?

How many of their players would leave?

Would their rich Chairman resign?

They'd keep quite a lot of fans as they've shown before, even when down in tier 3 in the not too distant past.

Owners are very very doubtful.

Just shows how much money you have means shit all, it's spending what you have wisely that counts.

Must have a short memory guys. Citeh spent time in the Championship and went down with us to League One. They still were getting 30K crowds at Maine Road for the likes of Macclsefield and Lincoln City

In fairness S09 was still playing with my little pony when Man City were in Division 2 with us.

And I imagine the thread starter is of a similar age.

Hardly "shit all". They'll spend their way out of trouble in January, with or without Hughes.

They only had all that cash available on the final day of the last window didn't they?

It will be very interesting to see what happens in January.

With the world economy rapidly disappearing down the toilet Man City will certainly not want to pay top dollar for a load of international mercenaries to "guarantee" safety, unless it is on pretty short contracts. No-one is going to want to be the last club to have spent big just before the big crash hits football as they will have the biggest exposure to the impact.

The right signings and they'll be fine.

Spunking further tens of millions on strikers and they will continue to struggle.

The forwards in their squad ...

Bojinov (talented, very talented, but injured, very injured: £6 million)
Robinho (8 goals from 13 games: £33 million)
Vassell (LOL: £3 million)
Jo (LOL x 2: £18 million)
Caicedo (1 goal, in the UEFA cup ...: £5.2 million)
Benjani (£4 million)

I'm actually fairly sure there's more ...

Cut this down, get in a bit of spine to midfield and they should be fine.

Let's turn this thread on its head, if Manchester United were to get relegated and Manchester City were to stay up, would the glory-hunting plastic Man Yoo fans desert Man Yoo? And maybe support Man City/Liverpool/Arsenal/Chelsea instead?

Man Utd would still get a full house every week.

LOL @ Spacey

Last time United were playing in the second flight we still got bigger gates than any other club in England. A fact that smashes the ABU Glory Hunting myth 8)

That was then, now you have so many plastics and tourists visiting your ground. They won't come flocking to your ground when you're playing clubs like Doncaster and Barnsley.

Spacey - if United got relegated I think we'd still average 60k in league games over the season.

Anyway, back to City. I think in Jan they'll be able to attract some really ambitious players who would want to play in next years play-off final.

Thats only because you have so many plastics it's unbelievable.

a couple of years outside teh top flight and you might struggle to make capacity every week.
