Surely he's only been charged with common assault after elbowing the DJ in the face. Charged and bail conditions are part of any police investigation. As Gerrard was part of the affray in the club the police had to either release him without charge pending further investigation, or have sufficient to charge him with an offence. In this case with the probable witness statements he will only ever get charged with common assault. Fined if found guilty in a court of law (if the CPS decide it comes to that). If indeed it was his elbow that knocked the DJ in the mouth - Gerrard has to be shown guilty of intent if it can be proven that he intended harm to the DJ. IF he reacted and swung his arm out to get the DJ off him he will be proven innocent of the intent to harm. Fine and a rap in the knuckles for him at worst. Then possibly heavily fined by the club and monies donated to the Battered DJ cause.
