Since his injury he hasn't been the same keeper

Casillas > Cech

The season before he headbutted Hunt's knee (or the one before that?) he was outstanding and up there as arguably the best in Europe that season, since then he has been quite poor in comparison and I wouldn't say even in the top 3 in his own league let alone other European Leagues.

Casillas has been outstanding over the past year or so.

As a side note, Carlo Cudicini has made around 138 league appearances since he joined Chelsea 10 years ago, what a waste of a career.

always felt the same with Steve Harper. A very very good goalkeeper that hasn't played enough throughout his career at Newcastle.

daswonder Still no one better then Buffon 8)

A sentiment that I have generally always agreed with until now, just feel that Casillas's performances over the last year took him to a new level.

up till Ramos came in he was shocking, almost like winning the Euro's made him think "i can't be arsed to try anymore"

I read somewhere a view on him that I thought was spot on in that Casillas always goes for the spectacular rather then worry about being consistent and just do the safe things which is where Buffon excels.

Coming 8th in the world player of the year for 2008 would give a fair indication that he was not 'shocking' pre Ramos (Ramos joined on December 9th)

He had been since the start of the league season, I'm not doubting that till then he was in amazing form.

World player can't be taken all that serious considering the people who have been picked in pasted seasons, like Zidane after a few decent games in the WC in 06.
