Another drink driving footballer

Plymouth have confirmed that teenager Shane White has been arrested for drink driving.

The incident comes three months after former Argyle goalkeeper Luke McCormick was jailed for seven years after pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving.

A club statement read: "Plymouth Argyle Football Club is aware of the arrest of first-year professional Shane White in the early hours of Tuesday, January 20 and the subsequent charge of driving with excess alcohol.

"As legal proceedings are now active, the club feels it is inappropriate to make any further comment at this time. The club will issue a further statement at the appropriate time."

Many Many years ago I was at Uni with a chap from Bude - he said you'd never see a copper on the roads down there so everyone used to drive around completely blitzed.

The only time he ever saw the local Bill was very late one night - cop car almost in a ditch on a narrow country lane - don't know why, but he decided to investigate  - was famous for doing daft things - probably felt brave cos of the umpteen pints of Scruttocks' Ol' Dirigible or Knee Cracker or whatever they drink down that way.

Anyways - Copper was bent double throwing up in said ditch absolutley Sh&tfaced - turned out (of course) it was his cousin so he gave him a lift home - in his own car - he wasn't quite that 'Jethro'd'! :?

AP's second team is Torquay - it's a similar thing to the Brizzol City being Welsh theme.

Back to the original topic - how fcuking stupid is this bloke? The highest profile motoring case involving a footballer for years (a case that is a footballer who's been done for drink driving (and other convictions)) and it's at the same club as this lad.

Even if you managed to miss all of the press coverage (which I find hard to believe) there's no way he wouldn't have heard about McCormick seeing as he is at the same club.

Yet another footballer who seems to think that the laws of this country don't apply to them

i believe plymouth has one of the lowest first time pass rates in the country. the place is a utter horrible place to drive in. they have roundabouts with 5 lanes, most people fail by going in the wrong lane,

Exactly, it's not so much a football thing as a society thing.

There are plenty of people who know someone who's been done for drink driving but still done it themselves. Their choice of employer doesn't really make it any different does it?

It doesn't make their behaviour any better of course, but it doesn't make it any worse either.
