It's to do with referees. A supply league is one where available referees (LKevel 4 and above) fill matches in the league first, then any left over do matches in non-supply leagues.

Last year the FA reorganised the feeder system and reduced the number of supply leagues from 90 to 26.

Many thanks for the info.

I'm trying to get info for a young Referee who is mainly doing adult lines at the moment. Do you know which leagues are around here are supply leagues and where there is more information on the feeder system.

This might help, as might the whole website. http://www.readingrefs.org.uk/ftmpages/FTM179.html

Dirk, you are a mine of information. Thank you.

If more people appreciated what it takes for a Referee to get to even League level would they be so critical of Referees? After all that it is a certainty that the Ref will have been in charge of more than just a few matches to get that far.

Are they forced to referee by gunpoint?
Is having a go at the referee a new phenomenon?

Why is having a go acceptable when the Referee is just doing his job? Do Referees for amateur, youth or junior football matches deserve poor treatment from spectators? Will it ever be socially unacceptable to have a go at a football Referee?
