Play Station Portables at RFC

by Negative_Jeff » 23 Jan 2009 13:45

I read in The Telegraph today that Arsenal have struck a deal with Sony to provide streaming for hand held games consoles at the Emirates, so that spectators can glance down to watch action replays. This will only be available in the stadium but the footage can be stored on the machines.
The question obviously is would this go down well at the Mad Stad? One advantage would be that the 7000 odd in the East Stand would no longer have to crane their necks 135 degrees to view the screen while jumping up and down to Tom Hark.
Personally I read the article with incredulity and the time cannot be far off when a sound engineer is required at football stadiums in order to induce an artificial atmosphere.

Worst idea ever! Next they'll strike up a deal with Andy Gray to over analyze these replays 30 times in a row with his pointless arrows pointing in all directions.

Interesting idea, still don't think it will actually happen for a few more years at least though.

I believe Derby have already got tv/video screens installed in the backs of some of their seats so that supporters can watch replays or even different channels during the game!! This idea comes courtesy of the US businessmen who bought the club!

Probem with this is the regulation that says clubs are not allowed to screen "controversial" incidents so as not to incite the crowd (or whatever the rule is - Dirkers?) - not sure how many fans would want their coverage interrupted every two minutes during a game refereed by Mike Riley.

Any chance of getting this upgraded so you can actually influence play ?

I'd love to make Ronaldho dribble up to the goal then turn round and run the other way to score an og !!

Presumably not all of the East Stand fans will have one of these consoles (unless of course it becomes a benefit of having a season ticket - hmmm perhaps I should have put that in my survey response)

I'd rather we put the score board, and another score board, on the front of the north and south stands. It costs, yes, but the seats can be put back in (50?) and we get our capacity increase.

Surely Blutooth would have been a better idea as it would cover a larger section of a match day crowd. Could send out goals, chances and decisions which can then be saved onto your phone.

Not really because the speed of BT is pretty dire, for video anyway
Also AFAIK, the only real way you could do it would be to 'push' the clip and every mobile with bluetooth switched on would receive it, or at least get prompted too, which would piss a lot of people off

Now there are some players that wind me up, but i would never wish an injury like that on any player.

Typical though.
