The 17 Bus Newcastle there due to attendances of over 50k on avergae for a good few years.

Newcastle were getting attendances of 20k or less in the early 90's. Have you fallen victim to the pundit myth that Newcastle fans are the best fans in the world?

SpaceCruiser Hmmmmm, in the last 20 years, Villa have:

-been in the top flight all the time
-won a league cup (beat Leeds)
-Been in the FA Cup final and lost (to Chelsea)
-Finished as runners up twice and finished 4th once.

And in the last 20 years Newcastle have:

-been relegated to the old division 2 and spent 4 seasons in it.
- been in the FA Cup twice and lost
- finished as runners up twice, 3rd twice and fourth once.

Draw your own conclusions there....

For a professional pedant, that's a mistaker to maker.

Nah, the fans were still there, waiting for the renewed Newcastle, also was a lot of unemployment up there around the time.

2-0, on what basis do you put United above Liverpool? Not Premier League-itis I hope.

United have always been a bigger club and Liverpool know it and hate it. United have always had the global appeal and have always (odd season excused) pulled in bigger crowds that Liverpool. On the pitch Liverpool may edge United (that gap is closing all the time) but off the pitch United > Liverpool by some disatnce.

Longevity, Utd were always the team, even when Pool did well people said Utd would get back. having the guts to expand Old Trafford to such a size and fill it every game almost.

George Best

Dennis Law

Bobby Charlton

Steve Coppell

Rothingy

I have always thought United have played with flair, rarely winning the league by a string of 1-0's, hell i have even seen em get relegated.

United's average in 74/75 in Div 2 - 48389
Liverpool's attendance in 74/75 in - 45996
Champions Derby County in 74/75 - 26719
Reigning Champions Leeds in 74/75 - 34882

Liverpool, ALWAYS in United's shadow

I'm not sure, the shadow created by five European Cups is quite wide.

Winning the inter-toto cup is just a route into the UEFA Cup
Winning the Cup Winners Cup was just like winning the UEFA Cup

1 European cup win in 1982 DOESN'T make Aston Villa a bigger club than Arsenal. Infact the last time Villa won something was 1996 (13 years ago) and that was the league cup, since then Arsenal have won 3 top division titles and 4 FA Cups/

So you're either on the wind up or its LOL @ You :?

Arsenal over Villa, really.

You also have to factor in the, what, 25 years between FA Cup win in the 50s and their achievements in the late 70s, early 80s (before getting relegated again in the late 80s ... ).
