who are ya? Seriously, what is it with people and tagging people who like a beer and a good atmosphere to raging pisshead hooligans straight off the 1970's terraces. Sad really.

we all like beer and good atmsphere.
but why cant you see that swearing in a shouty agressive voice probably isnt going to make many people feel very comfortable

But what if it was aimed at the opposition/referee? Surely not all of aggression is going to be aimed at their poor little heads.

youre just not getting this at all are you,
girls, children and the elderly may be scared and offended by shouted angry swear words, especially if they arent used to it.

nothing to do with them having poor little heads, and nowt to do with where its directed, the fact that its right next to them, at 150 decibels, with an angry face,is enough.

the thing is spacey, not every one is a hard as you are, and different people can cope with different levels of the stuff.

the end

Arch I wonder if there's a connection between the civilizing trend of the crowd and the greater critical attitude towards the play. Back in the day, you could be so happy singing, swearing and generally ladding about that you didn't notice that the fare on offer was utter dross. Now that you more or less have to watch all 90 minutes intently, you realize that the event isn't all that entertaining. Maybe when someone says the family atmosphere is ruining the game they love, what they really mean is that the game itself was never enough of an event to be worth it.

in fact sometimes a really dull game made the banter and singing even better

Its an embarassing award but no suprise really, who else plays a half time anti-swearing advert with a family sat in the back garden eating a BBQ?

isnt that a football wide campaign?

Skin gheyness personified. not to mention family club = the happy clappy middle class sit down brigade

..or maybe family club = working class, look after your support club. You really do have a painful chip on your shoulder that needs urgent attention.

Ninian Park >>>>>>>>>> Madejski Stadium and then some.

Not for me. I went there instead of seeing Cheltenham v Reading in the FA Cup a few years ago as our game was called off. I saw Cardiff v Oldham in an FA Cup game. Afterwards some Cardiff morons were trying to get at an Oldham coach outside the ground. It was a very intimidating and aggressive atmosphere. Certainly not what I wish to take my 6 year old to

It's a Football League initiative, so not all of football, just 72 clubs. No cost to the club and no choice given to them on whether they play it or not.

i hope we win the award. We would have one something and the other fans couldn't sing "you've never won f**k all"at us as

seriously, winning this would be great recognition for all the people behind the scenes at the club that have worked hard building our support in the last 15 years or so.

reducing prices, changing your fan base etc wouldn't improve the atmosphere. There is a big difference between Noise and atmosphere, don't confuse the two. having an extra 2000 under 16s screeching through 90 minutes is why I switched off under 16 football when its on TV. "bring it on" was noise, not atmosphere.

having meaningful competitive games improves the atmosphere.

I don't get theis fasination of what other teams think of us as a support. Do you think you'll ever get "respect" from the fans of other teams coz we make a lot of noise?

The only fans I "respect" are those that travel hundreds of miles to watch their bottom of the league team losing at the mad stad on a wet tuesday night in the middle of november.

Terminal Boardom I don't understand the negativity at all. This is not the 1970s with skinheads, DMs and braces. Times have moved on. Just take a step back and try and see the bigger picture. Once extremely good reason for winning such an award would be in ATTRACTING more corporate sponsorship. After all, how many businesses out there would not want to be associated with such a football club.

And as for terraces, don't make me laugh. The next thing you lot will want is a return to the Victorian era and the reinstatement of workhouses and child labour. Don't any of you remember the state of the toilets in the South bank or Tilehurst End? Positively prehistoric!

I couldn't care less about attracting fcuking businesses! Its the prawn snadwich brigade that's killing football

Sarah Star I know plenty of people who think that football crowds are all about swearing, drinking and violence/pack mentality and are put off by it.

I don't understand people who complain that people sat around them tell them to be quiet. We all know that if you rsat in Y26 Y25 that doesn't happen, just choose your seats in areas with the same level of atmosphere/singing as you want. If you ring up you can always get seats where you want, regardless of what the website says is sold out. I manage to sit top of Y25 for every game, just ring up, sit there if you wana sing, don't buy tickets in the West and then complain about the atmosphere, move to where its better and start enjoying life again.
