BBC ...selling a Championship club in the current economic climate would prove near impossible...

I would say that due to the recession you now only need to be a multi millionaire to own a football club.

I suppose Portsmouth might be OK, but I guess we are currently in the less risky position financially. Well done John Madejski for showing no ambition and keeping all our money!

Doesn't the state that Pompey are in just remind us how foolhardy and irresponsible it has been for JM and co NOT spending vast sums of money? Long may he stay!

There are so many teams that so many on here want to see relegated and yet it will only be three.
Stoke
Spurs
Sunderland
Bolton
Fulham'
Newcastle
and now Pompey and as always West Ham.

IF (and I think it is still a big IF )we go up ,for geographical reasons I would like the three North-East clubs go down.
If we don't go up I would like to see them stay up for geographical reasons and because they tend to spend money and would make an enormous effort to go back up and make our job even harder.

I'd like to see Hull fade into the obscurity they came from. The only real reason for this is they are taking the gloss of our first Prem season and they were shite when they got promoted.

then Spurs and then Bolton.

And then Pompey.

Pompey, purely because I've got money on them. Really don't mind who else goes down, although Spurs and Newcastle would be pretty funny.

You forgot to include Manchester United and Arsenal in that list.

How can Victor forget two teams that you dislike in a purely subjective list?

They are only 6 points off relegation, we were miles clear in our first season.

Harry is smart enough to have known that the Pompey could not afford the money they were spending. A tiny ground, a very dodgey owner and you've got a number of players on 80k plus a week. They will never make Champions League, Harry jumps ship before the shit hits the fans and says well I won the FA Cup.

I bet Spurs won't be making the profits they have been with Harry in charge and at best he'll get them into the UEFA Cup.

I always thought that Gaydermak was basically just a front for his dad who's a wanted the world over for arms dealing if I'm not mistaken so I assumed that Pompey were just a front for a bit of money laundering. I also remember reading in Private Eye that Gaydermak was taking out large business loans against the holding company that officially owns Pompey. Forget reviving the glory years of the late 30's, reviving the glory years of the late 70's looks to be a more realistic ambition.

Since when have facts and logic been the basis for MOTD bland generalisations?
