Kevin Doyles Right Foot goalies look shit, 6 centre backs is pointless, Micah Richards should be in there seen as he can play right back and centre back, even if he ain't 100% fit. Our strikers are diabolical, Carlton Cole? ok hes on form but shit, and Rooneys the only decent striker there.

Behave.

deadley is the best centre half in england. but his fitness (or lack of) does beg the question as to why he has been bought back into the fold...

On the top of his game, and fit, I certainly think King could displace Terry in the side. But by the sounds of it he is never going to be 100% fit again. A real shame, he is a very talented player.

It's not just Richards fitness that's an issue, he has been pretty poor for most of the season and hasn't played right back much from what I've seen either. If he is going to be our number one right back he'd be better off playing there for his club side.

He was pretty damn good when he came into the England side but I've always had a lingering doubt over how good he could be come as he didn't quite seem to have the natural craft and know-how of better defenders and his technique was a little odd. I had high hopes he'd learn and become a world class full back, and he might still, but I can't see him excelling as much as a centre half.

I'm personally pretty happy to have Glen Johnson in there, I think he's maturing well and has done nothing wrong in an England shirt as far as I can remember. He's playing well for Portsmouth and gets up and down the line well.

However, I echo the sentiments that it's pretty poor for a nation of England's supposed stature to have only one right back in the international set-up. Richards might not be the man to bring in, but he is an option nontheless. Obviously with Wes Brown and Gary Neville out there are limitations, and I really don't see Luke Young as an international footballer despite his previous experience.

LoyalRoyalFan At the moment we do have a real problem with our strikers. Lets be honest, its only Wayne Rooney who is any good. Why not call up a youngster to give him a try. Someone like Danny Welbeck or Matt Derbyshire.
Because they are shit?

Read in the newspaper that King doesn't actually train properly anymore, he trains specifically with the physio and then on friday morning has a 20min jog to see if his knees ok.

Paul McGrath was another defender who couldn't train and he didn't do to badly

The problem with importing so many foreign strikers to avoid paying over the odds and to get garuanteed quality, is that decent English strikers never get a chance to progress.

Rooney is good but doesn't really work particularly well for England. The rest are mediocre at best.

Would it not help if one or two of them had a first touch?

Maybe more would have developed a first touch, or some consistent quality had they progressed sensibly through the leagues getting first team football and then played regularly for a top flight team.

Instead we're left with a bunch of mediocre, often bit part players or regulars in shite relegation battling teams

Ideal I.R., that does make sense - but these socalled kids that are not playing can only blame themselves for joining the top teams' academies rather than teams like Reading where they'd have a realistic chance of breaking into the team later on.
Good Joke!

Bent called up to the squad. Michael Owen's England career looks over.
