Breaking News - Wembley Pitch

by Elliott » 24 Apr 2009 16:53

BBC Sport says:

"FA takes action on Wembley pitch

Wembley Stadium's controversial pitch is to be dug up immediately, the FA has confirmed.

More follows."

Does the play-off final come before the FA cup final?

New pitch may be an advantage to us if we get there with our "beautiful passing football".

Play off finals are the week before the FA Cup final, which is a week before an England game. They will need to act quick, as I think there are 8 games scheduled before the previous pitch rip up date of mid June

And to echo the previous point, there is no guarantee that a new pitch now will be any better than the previous 5 or 6

They last relaid the pitch in january

Grass does not grow in January, OK they have all the lamps and things to stimulate growth, but the grass would have no roots

if they relay it now it will not have "bed in" by may 9th and will just cut up badly again

There was talk of the wrong kind of soil used. First the farce of the build and now the basic element of a football pitch which is below par.

Even more impressive breaking news:

Reading FC have contacted the FA and offered a swap

It is being dug up immediately so yes, it will be new turf if we get there.
