Bring back The Royals Anthem!

by Big Foot » 24 Apr 2009 00:34

With our home game against Birmingham potentially MASSIVE, I suggest the club brings back The Royals Anthem to get the fans going and "backing the boys"

Nananana, nananana, Sing for the Royals, nananana
8)
It was 2.45, the place was alive,
With the Elm Park sound as we came to the Ground,
The crowd was still growing,
Exictement was showing,
When the kick-off came it was down to the game.

And the White, Blue, win or lose,
We're with you all the way,
We got a feeling this is gonna be our day.

And the match was on when they heard our song,
And if your with the Royals,
We know you'll sing along.

It's the heart of the town when you're there at the ground,
It's the atmosphere that makes you so proud,
When there's so much to play for that makes you feel sure,
The team needs you and you need them too.

And the White, Blue, win or lose,
We're with you all the way,
We got a feeling this is gonna be our day.

And the match was on when they heard our song,
And if your with the Royals,
We know you'll sing along.

.... Sing for the Royals!

Up until recently, they were playing the Royals Anthem around 15 minutes prior to kick-off at the Mad Stad so they might still be playing it - haven't heard it for the last couple of game as I've been staying in the pub longer and thus getting to the ground around 5 minutes before kickoff

SAdly for May 3rd they'd need to get Girdler to re-record a version suggestiong it was 1 o'clock and the place was alive, which doesn't even scan

Will a UK DVD work on a US DVD player? I bought a VHS review of an older season and it's all scrambled on my VCR.

Ive been saying this for a while. Is probably the only unique song that Reading have yet they continue to play that shite music before the game. The club dont recognise anything RFC prior to 2004.

LOL - those videos bring back so many good memories. Reminds me of when Schards ran on pitch last home game in Championship winning season and did a cartwheel!

Brings back many memories of standing under the rusty south bank roof, hearing it over that old rickety tannoy system. Sometimes even as you walked through the turnstiles. Good memories.

I'd love to here this more before kick-off, in place of that irritating and annoying idiot with the mic!

FAO: I think you do play it a bit, but play it a bit louder please. It's too quiet.

Watched a load last night, certainly brings back the happy memories. I think it should be compulsory for the players to watch one of those before each game (fans to do the same), just to help get that passion and positivity flowing.

We were unstoppable. It dodn't matter if we went behind, we won anyway.

We scored so many goals! There are about 12 contenders for goal of the season.

I think the main differences between then and now are our wingers aren't up to the same quality and consistency, we haven't got the same confidence and arrogance, and finally other teams just don't fear us like they did during that season.

It seemed like it got to the point that the opposition got to a game with no idea how to stop us and had already conceeded defeat before the whistle blew to kick off.

Confidence, teamwork, intuition and the blend of a gelled solid team. Looking back we never had it so good.
