Man Friday As has been pointed out, all these posts will have been a waste of time if we don't beat Norwich. One game at a time, surely? (If we do, though, I'm betting heavily on a SU win and a Brum win and draw in the hope of losing it all but having one of the best days of my life.)

Its SOOOOOOOOOOO relaxing NOT having to partake in these permutations ! 8)

I'll be betting on a Sheff Utd, Reading win double coz that'll be the real choker. But only if we win at Norwich

Silver Fox Colin has been playing a weakened team for a few week's now just so he can't get called out for being a hypocrite when he gifts his blades promotion next week.

Shhh!

Don't tell Ian, he still believes in Warnock's sense of fair play - as well as the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, Father Christmas.............................

Didn't Warnock ball his eyes out when Feguson picked an understrength team meaning West Ham picked up a 1-0 win, sending Sheff Utd down?

It would really be funny if Reading sneaked it.

Ian Royal That 0-0 away to Forest, 2-4 away at Charlton, 0-2 away at Ipswich, 2-2 away at Watford, 0-0 at home v QPR, 1-2 at home v Saints, 1-1 awat at Saints, 0-0 away at QPR, 0-2 at home v Bristol city, 0-1 at home v Forest, 2-2 away at Plymouth, 2-2 at home v Charlton, 01 at home v Ipswich, 0-0 away at Palace, 0-0 away at Coventry, 0-1 at home v Sheffield Utd, or 2-2 away at Blackpool.

A good, but slightly disappointing season full of missed chances.

No MVP, it wouldn't

LOL. Wut?
You basically expect us to win every game, right?

Thats not quite how football works. Especially in the Championship.

Worst thing about Strap's prediction is that it predicts a promotion to the Premiership with only 80 points.

I think the point being made is you can't say if only we had beaten Barnsley, as it is the most recent of slip ups when the season has been riddled with slip ups when we could have, should have, would have, picked up points in certain games.

To pick the most recent one in Barnsley is not where we "may" have gone wrong...

OK, point conceded.
There is an alternative point that we shouldnt expect every game where we drop points to be a 'missed opportunity'. Sometimes teams do just drop points.

Sun Tzu
strap This happens if we beat Norwich & Brum and SheffU beat Palace.

Are you sure ?

Wouldn't the result of Sheff Wed v Cardiff have an influence on that then?

Its fate I tell you!

I personally think it will not be possible after tomorrow but if we do win tomorrow then we just need:-

Cardiff to draw one of their last 3 (highly possible)

Shef Utd to draw one of their last 2 (playing Swansea saturday- so a must win for the swans and then Colin's lot on the last day of the season...so again highly possible)

Brum to lose their penultimate game( 5.15 K.O. Saturday, against Prston - a must win game for Preston so slightly possible).

Us to win our last 2 - nO F**KING chance.

Play offs it is then!!!!!
Ok ...so there were 6 things needed for us to go up automatically... us to win 3, cardiff to draw one, shef untd to draw one and Preston to beat Brum.

Well Cardiff got the draw and we won one so far...

... 2 down 4 to go... could it happen....... still no fu**ing chance.

We live in hope.
3 down 3 to go
4 down 2 to go

The board...

by Royal Boil » 27 Apr 2009 23:40

...is remarkably quiet, given the importance of the result tonight and the fact that instead of being a nothing game, the whole season could come down to the last one against Brum, because we don't do well in play-offs, do we? After the past few miserable months, is everybody still pessimistic? (I have to admit to my own rant moment.) Are we all waiting for that moment on Sunday when we win, only to be pipped by the disappointment of Sheffield Utd beating Crystal Palace, or are we starting to believe in the impossible, despite woeful passing against Norwich and a few players giving a good impression of not caring? For, despite all the negatives, I think I'm actually in danger of getting a bit carried away with it all. I'm just waiting for the board to feel like it's possible...

Well, about 75 minutes ago when I tried to log on post match it had crashed again, too many connections.
Maybe people have given up and gone to bed.

We need to beat Brum, either to go up or to keep the momentum going thought the playoffs where we may ultimately face Brum in the final.

Surprisingly, Brum are the team I'd most like to play in the playoffs (aside from Burnley). And I want to beat them anyway, just to deny them auto-promotion.

Strange that if we win and Sheff U win, we'll be complaining of Warnock's integrity, but if we draw and Sheff U win, I'll be happy to see Brum go into the playoffs...

JR
Call me a fool and dillusional, but I have just placed £20 on Reading to finish 2nd and get promoted automatically. Thought it was worth a punt at 50/1.

I am not looking so delusional any more! On sunday afternoon I shall be sitting in the East Stand nervously watching the Royals game live and at the same time watching the Sheff Utd game (the joys of technology and Sky Sports on your mobile!). The tension may well become unbearable!!

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but pipping Brum to the second spot on Sunday would almost make up for losing out on GD to Fulham last season. I would love it if we beat them and Sheffield United sink...
