I know the majority of our fans are a bunch of spastics but if they cant clap there own hands on there own we might as well not bother. Star are a oxf*rd puppet organisation full of yes men. This site has a cross section of our support from all areas of the ground and everyone hates the idea.

Why dont Star do something like they did at the qpr game, that was good. These clappy things are rediculous.

Mine will go straight on the floor, and will remain there until the litterpicking brigade come to scavenge leftovers.

You can shove mine up your arse. If I want to make noise, I'll use my voice. What a joke, was probably STAR's idea mind, spending our fee for joining on nothing useful.

I think it's prety much an acknowledgement that the home support could be drowned out by the brum support. This has been known to happen!. The brum support will have current bragging rights on us and it will naturally be this tension which could silence the support if we do not score or go behind. The players have hinted that a good atmosphere lifts the team. Lets hope the team encourage us to support them vocally instead of being drowned out by clappers from the brum support or our own support using them.

For that to happen we need:
A convincing display from the team.
The team need a loud and fantastic vocal support this sunday.

We have the sell out, so we are part of the way there. Lets just get the scoring and the win under our belts.

A couple of weeks ago the Brum set up issued similar things to their crowd for the Wolves game. Seemed to work for them didn't it?

Define worked for them?

Did it help the team? No.
Did it make a racket? Yes.

I'd rather we won in silence to be honest.

STAR Campaigns Personally, on Sunday I'll be doing what I usually do at matches, which is applauding, moaning, singing and clapping as appropriate - not to mention abusing the linesman at regular intervals and muttering "cow's arse ... banjo" whenever SHunt has a shot. I'll also have my hands full of mobile phone as I keep track of what's happening at Selhurst Park every 30 secnds.

For a couple of reasons, I'm not going to enter into a defence, debate, discussion or otherwise of these things. Others can do that if they feel the need.

The people on HNA? were always going to loudly hate them, because the default setting of HNA? is almost always to criticise - so the reaction was entirely predictable. But - and this applies to so many things, not just "clapper banners" - the population of HNA? is relatively small compared to the overall population of Reading supporters, and so, hard as it may be to believe, the views of nobbers are not necessarily representative of the majority of Reading supporters. Those with the loudest voices don't always speak for everyone, so while certain nobbers may hate them, many other supporters may not. And I can't help but feel that for a certain number, what they say here is more to do with the cyber-image they're trying to project about themselves than what they actually think.

Firstly, my reaction to these cringe worthy initiatives has nothing to do with any cyber-image but lots to do with my enjoyment of watching the sport I love and the team I've followed for the best part of 25 years.

Secondly, you say the views expressed by those who are this kind of anti-false atmosphere generating is just a loud minority voice. Can you tell me what canvassing of the support you've done to come to this conclusion?

I'm sure a high percentage of people will wave the damn things about on Sunday, but how many of those will be doing it a) begrudgingly to try and help generate the atmosphere the club wants to do everything they can to help achieve the goal, b) to take the piss out of the whole thing, c) to hide their own embarrassment, d) because they think it's a great idea and will help create the electric atmosphere that would otherwise be lacking at the biggest game of the season.

My point is that some will think this is a great idea. Some will hate it and shy away. Some will be anti it but give it a go to save it from falling on its face and killing the natural atmosphere that might just build up through the enthusiasm of the team and fans anyway.

I know you said you didn't want to enter into a drawn out justification of this but any chance you might briefly answer my main point in response to your post?

How do you know HNA? doesn't represent the general/majority view of fans on this subject? Do you canvass your members on supporting this kind of thing?

Why not play a high pitched noise over the PA the whole game.We have lost the plot here.BTW you can't defend it saying that other clubs do it.I'm going to get there early and remove as many as i can from under peoples seats if that is the case.
