Royalshow Why not play a high pitched noise over the PA the whole game.We have lost the plot here.BTW you can defend it saying that other clubs do it.I'm going to get there early and remove as many as i can from under peoples seats if that is the case.

no we arent. we are turning up late so we miss the first couple of minutes where everyone is using them.
after about 5 minutes we will all be sick of them

seeing as our fans wont clap or sing why would they join in with this?

This thread is living proof that HNA is not really representative of the majority view. The 'hard core' on here simply don't get it. There are thousands of fans who do want to jig around to Tom Hark, make a noise with free Clapper (or whatever) and have a bit of a laugh. That there are some (a minority of the overall fanbase) on here who don't like it is sad, they need to accept that it is just a fact of life - live with it.

I'm in the UW and I'm all for goal music (but Terry and June instead of Tom Hark please) and a bit of a dance when we score but this is still a 'kin stupid idea.

I'd be right behind the idea normally but this is the biggest match of the season and virtually guaranteed to have a belting atmosphere on its own. There was no need to mess imho.

You may well be right, but didn't the B'ham management do something similar for their game against Wolves - another game that possibly had a good atmosphere guaranteed. It simply adds to the impact, maybe?

I give it 10 minutes into the game before there is an announcement ver the tannoy asking supporters not to turn their "clappers" into cardborad aeroplanes (or the like) and to stop throwing them on the pitch.

Happened with the "Bring It On" placards and the club had a good old moan about it then

Shall I just assume that Hinton is somehow behind this initiative?

I asked STAR this question but haven't had any response so I'll try running it through you.

How do you know there are thousands who think this is a great idea? What research is there to back that up?

Just because other clubs have done something similar doesn't mean that supporters like this kind of thing. It might appeal to an element of the fanbase (the impressionable kids and the new 'family audience' that's been attracted to football more and more over the last 5-10 years) but it is this kind of thing that is changing the game for the worst and will probably test the patience and loyalty of many fans at the same time.

Ask Snowball what the stats are and if people want to go to Butlins or scream American-style in an ITV audience for any Reality TV show then go there and do it West Stand Man and leaves us just to clap, moan, cheer or boo like any other normal football fans.

If a lot of STAR members didn't particularly think this was a good idea, did they convey that to the club - and did the club just ignore them?

It doesn't bother me either way tbh, but I can foresee idiots chucking them about.

JM on radio today saying we need the crowd to get behind the players. I'm all for a bit more noise than of late, but I think we'll get a much more vocal support on Sunday due to a) the fact we're in with a shout (albeit a tiny one) of auto promotion and b) we've actually started playing a bit better so there's more to get vocal about.
