Clappers Being Handed Out At Burnley Game

by tomrfcurz » 12 May 2009 13:05

Yep, thats the right guys the clappers will be back in full swing for our play off second leg home fixture with Burnley tonight at the Mad Stad. Taken from the official site:

"5,000 clap banners will be handed out at tonight's play-off semi-final second leg with Burnley.

STAR volunteers will be at turnstiles handing out our banners ahead of this decisive encounter.

Banners were previously handed out at the Birmingham match; our final League game of the season."

To be fair (and speaking as a failry vocal critic of the idea) whilst the clappers were predictably annoying pre match when hundreds of kids were banging them randomly they did have a reasonable effect when used in unison.

I still don't like them but they did a job for the Brum game and if we get noise round 90% of the ground then fair enough.

Burnely could have done with them on Sunday - and I see the 'hard core, genuine fans' in Sheffield had them last night......

Who cares, so long as there is an atmosphere. I like them and I want another one!

I prefer my atmospheres to resemble a football match rather than a creche.

The way things were going before, everyone booing and getting on the team's backs, I think I prefer the creche.

If I understood what that meant, Deathy, I guess I'd feel offended, but I don't, so I'm not.

I was vehemently against the clappers for the Brum match as I didn't think they'd do anything to lift the atmosphere. I was wrong. As annoying as it was to hear the bloody things up close the overall effect was pretty good.

I'm almost glad they're back.

To be fair, i'd agree they were a good idea, if the muppet behind me didn't clap his when everyone went silent! But what ever happened to clapping with hands?
