today 56 people died in the Valley Parade Fire (Bradford City) watching their team winning the Divsion 3 title.

Another sad day for football which is sometimes forgotten nowdays.

3 generations of the same family

When I did fire warden training a few years ago they showed us some of the unreleased footage of the Bradford fire.

It starts with a few wisps of smoke and a couple of small flames, and people are actually standing around it laughing and pointing. Then it spreads literally faster than people can run away from it, and within just 2-3 minutes the whole stand is ablaze.

My thoughts also with Darren Fletcher, who will miss the European Cup Final.

Almost certainly a dad and twin sons, and most likely with mum waiting at home. Tragic.

I guess at that age standing wasn't really an option though..?

This was the main stand that burnt down - all seated.

The irony is that Bradford had won the league in great style, and this was the last match of the season - so there was a capacity crowd for the celebration.

Indeed, this video shows just how quickly it spread. I remember it being shown at the time far too clearly.

Same here. It was horrific to watch and a real eye opener.

I can still see a policeman rugby tackling a supporter who was on fire and trying to put the flames out, even though I saw it about 5 or 6 years ago.

I've read a few articles about the one son who survived the fire because he got split up from the rest of his family and was led onto the pitch by a policeman. His second team was Nottingham Forest, He was at Hillsborough as well.

And also we dicked them 5-2 the previous home game thereby delaying the promotion celebration.

One of the most heartbreaking things about it is that the people at the back of the stand, who had no chance of reaching the pitch, went out the back to escape through the main back doors and they were locked. Can you imagine being trapped there with a raging fire approaching? Awful to contemplate. I think a large number of the dead died here.

The only saving grace was that there weren't fences at the front of the stand.
