Premiership relegation

by Rex » 16 May 2009 21:52

16 Sunderland 36 9 9 18 31 48 -17 36
17 Hull City 37 8 11 18 39 63 -24 35
18 Newcastle United 37 7 13 17 40 58 -18 34
19 Middlesbrough 37 7 11 19 27 55 -28 32
20 West Bromwich Albion 36 8 7 21 36 65 -29 31

The final day could still prove interesting. Any of those 4 could switch places and get relegated.

Looks like long haul away games next season.

Any of those 5, really - Sunderland are still in danger, although it'd be a strange set of circumstances that'd take them down.

I suppose everyone would love to see Sunderland, Newcastle & Boro to go down together - that'd be a real long-shot, though!

Nope- they've got two games to play so could finish ahead of all of the others - even if they do have Liverpool as one of those games.

Remaining fixtures for all :

Sunderland (36 pts, GD -17) : Away to Portsmouth, Home to Chelsea
Hull (35 pts, GD -24) : Home to Man Utd
Newcastle United (34 pts, GB 18) : Away to Aston Villa
Middlesbrough (32 pts, GD-28) : Away to West Ham
West Bromwich Albion (31 pts, GD -29) : Home to Liverpool, Away to Blackburn

Shame the Newcastle game is away as i'd love to see 50,000 geordies crying on MOTD (seems a good enough place for the image below)

Liverpool now have nothing to play for. Can't see them busting a gut. Baggies are coming into a bit of form. Could be interesting.

How often have the last three changed on the last day over the past few few years? Is it only my imagination or has it often 'gone down to the wire' over the past decade or so?

A little matter of qualifying for the Champions League proper and avoiding the qualifying rounds....

Liverpool are fielding a pretty full-strength team. A win and their GD pretty much guarantees the runners-up spot.

Sunderland losing and WBA winning would make it all very interesting.

Doesnt seem like a year ago that we were in this situation, football drama at its very finest.

Whore Jackie West Brom down.

A decent away fixture for us next season-one of the easiest grounds to get to and get away from.
An improvement on Birmingham but any two from Hull,Sunderland and Newcastle isn't very appealling.

Huge LOL for Newcastle. Cannot believe they're all but relegated.

Delighted with Boro's almost certain relegation. Lovely!

I think im on my own in not really wanting Newcastle to go down.

Id love to see Sunderland drop after all the £ they've spent on garbage.

Don't like Hull either, toss pot of a manager and what have they actually achieved? nothing more than a purple patch that lasted a few months, they havn't even been a decent team for a full season.

United's team to play Hull

Foster
Rafael-Evans-Chester-Fabio
Nani-Gibson-Fletcher-Tosic
Manucho-Welbeck

Half a chance for Hull there.
