less Football in Reading

I've heard that, as of this coming season, Football will no longer be played in Palmer Park and Prospect Park. Anyone know any more about this ?

I've heard they won't be playing football at the Mad Stad again this coming season either.

It was threatened due to the Sunday League complaining about the price rise for RBC pitches. I doubt they'll actually stop football being played on them, though, as they take a lot of money from the pitches.

I suppose the debate should be what is the worth of the pitches??

i would think £3/4 per player for a game would be about right, so about £80 a match, with changing facilities. however I have no idea what the cost is, am sure some here know??

A long time since I was invloved in local football but not just the pitch to pay for - referee must be about £20 now, cost of buying kit, balls etc. Without sponsorship it must be getting on for a tenner a game per player.
