According to the BBC. Would really shoot Burnley in the foot if he does go to Celtic!

They asked him about it at their parade thing and to say he dodged the question would be understating it slightly.

I probably wouldn't, unless they paid me a lot more for my services.

Mickey Mouse League with guaranteed Top 2 finish + a doomed European campaign -v- The Best League in The World with the team I built + all the crap hype that goes with it.

Difficult choice. All down to money on offer.

All down to the wages. Less than a 50% increase on the Burnley Premier Wage, and not worth switching IMO.

Too easily a dead end job after 1 year. At least no one is going to hold it against him if he fails to keep Burnley up and gets sacked / resigns.

One of the biggest posts in world football, you cannot blame him. Lets hope he fails miserably and swaps an English relegation fight for a Scottish (Irish surely?) relegation fight. And fails spectacularly.

How many of you recognised the Bruce Rioch influence on Burnley's football this season? And didn't BR walk out on B*****n after they got promotion in 95? How many similarities are needed?

Personally, I think OC would be a right twat to walk out on the dingles after what he has achieved. It is not that disimilar to what SSC did with us.

He played under Rioch who deserted his club shortly after a Second Tier play off.....

Edit: Just seen TB has already mentioned this.

He was offered the Arsenal job after winning Bolton promotion - I think most managers in his position would have accepted that. And as far as I am aware, most Bolton fans seem to have understood and are merely grateful for what he achieved there.

Obvious appointment due to his heritage.

Celtic are still raging a non-catholic in strachan was appointing. Hopefully by appointing a catholic from scotland with an irish name it will settle their anger.

It rather depresses me that such a minor, tiny point even matters.

so the world seems to have moved on since may 28th

So far we have had

Roy Keane
David Moyes
Glen Hoddle
Steve Coppell
Owne Coyle
Mark McGee
Alan Curbishley
Slavan Bilic

and now the target is Roberto Martinez

NOw, while I rate Martinez as an up and coming manger I suspect that
1/ its too early in his career for him to go to celtic
2/he's not exaclty the high profile manager I would imagine celtic fans are looking for

What he has proven he can do is produce an entertaining team on a shoestring budget.

Good enough to compete for the SPL Title and in the champions league?

I think I could do that nevermind Martinez, as for Champions League Celtic won't do anythng in that either. They may qualify, lose to FC Tallin of Estonia and it'll be cya.

I think he'd be a very good manager for most teams including Celtic. Would have loved for him to join Reading.

Purlease no. Understand his misses is Scottish and they are getting married this summer... CeLOLtic have made an official approach so can't really see him turning this down, even to manage in that Mickey Mouse league, so I'll shortly be joining the Urz inspired 'WTF is gonna happen next season' depression. Presume he's Catholic too.
