Deloitte football report

by Murts-is-Lej » 05 Jun 2009 15:58

Can you believe £1.2bn in players wages just for the 2007-8 Premier League? Even more amazing the top 5 spent nearly 50% of that total (LOL at NU in there!):
* Chelsea - £172.1m
* Manchester Utd - £121.1m
* Arsenal - £101.3m
* Liverpool - £90.4m
* Newcastle Utd - £74.6m

So Chelsea had a squad of 31 players in 2007-8 so that's an average of £5.5m per player! :shock:

It would be interesting to see how many clubs in England, Britain, Europe are actually in the black rather than red. Is there anywhere that details that information?

Sorry, I'm not paying £600 for the full report so I only have the highlights:
Deloitte Operating profits for the Premier League increased to a record £185m in 2007/08. 11 Premier League clubs recorded operating profits, up from eight in 2006/07.
Operating losses for Championship clubs increased from £75m to a record £102m despite increased parachute payments to relegated clubs, and the first solidarity payment to the rest of the Football League.
