Bearing in mind that Bury have won two major trophies (The FA Cup) are they a bigger club than Reading?

According to my old "Most Successful Clubs" mdb, Bury is indeed more successful than Reading and have been in the top flight for 22 seasons, which is 20 seasons more than Reading.

But currently, Reading are doing so much better than Bury, so I'd say Reading are currently bigger than Bury in terms of league position, stadium size, money and potential and catching up on the success league.

In the modern era though (that is since the 2nd World War finished) Reading are bigger than Bury. It all depends where you want to start from.

Since the start of the Premiership everything is a whole new ball game as so much is skewed now thanks to Sky and the money grabbing greedies at the top of the football chain.

Therefore using this last "start line", in terms of things won you could argue that Reading are bigger than most teams in the Premiership!

Stadium size has nothing to do with it. Anyone can go and build a stadium! It's bums on seats that matter.

It's no good stretching back to past honours won either. There's a million miles between Bury and Reading in terms of club size now.

not so sure on that one. If Reading were in decline for a few years and in League one or two, the crowds wouldn't be too disimilar.

Bury's highest ever finish is 4th in the top flight, which is better than Reading's.

I don't think that it's unfair in thinking that neither club will be bettering that at any point in the near future.

Bury aren't even bigger than Manchester United's supporters club FFS

Gotta be Reading, for "modern era" reasons quoted above.

If Reading dropped down a division or 2, Reading would pull in easily in the 12-13k mark.

You do seem to have a fixation about all things "big"-do you have a problem in the southern region such as a feeling of inadequacy?

You think we'd still get 12-13K in League 2? Would that be because they would have to give away the tickets?

If we were pushing for promotion, I think we could muster 12,000. Mid table or lower in divs 1 or 2 we'd struggle to get 10,000 and mid table in Champ we'd only be around 13-14K

Drop the "or 2" bit, and it makes sense  wasn't thinking about what I was typing. There's no way we'd pull in those figures if we went down two divisions!
