Mark Walters, Debut Remembered...

by FiNeRaIn » 14 Jun 2009 09:56

I think I can state for certain that Mark will tell you about his Rangers debut on the 2nd January 1988, venue Celtic Park. Here’s an insight from his autobiography “After The Villa”:

“There was all the publicity about the game; on the morning I was watching TV and this Celtic fan was standing in front of a fruit stall saying ‘This is what Walters is going to get’. When the match was on I had all sorts chucked at me, fruit, pigs feet, darts, the lot. If I’d picked them up I wouldn’t have had to buy any food for a month.”

Walters was subjected to the worst incident of racism ever seen in a British sporting arena. Celtic fans threw hundreds of bananas onto the trackside and field of play. They wore monkey suits and Ku Klux Klan hoods. They made monkey chants throughout the game. That’s REAL racism Mr. Gebby - and Ireland’s shame were the perpetrators.

Yawn.

Celtic and Rangers fans are tiresome bores in equal measure. The football world would be better off without both of them.

How is this objectively measured?
