Murtys testimonial

Why is Murtys testimonial a reading v Reading match?

It should have been our home friendly against Chelsea. Would have had more people turn up and more interest

AND it's been brought forward 24 hours to the Monday now, hasn't it?

also, I suspect it would cost too much to have Chelsea as the testimonial opponents - or Chelsea wouldn't do it for free or whatever.

Big policing costs for Chelsea as well.

They'll be able to do the testimonial with no police and minimal stewarding. No away fans to worry about !

It is a shame that we have the Chelsea game though (for a variety of reasons) and the biggest is that inevitably some people will chose that over the more deserving option of supporting Murt's charity.

I'd love to see them charge an extra tenner for the Chelsea game and include a ticket for Murts game in with it but I suspect they can't do that legally.
