Rafahahaha

by 1960 » 10 Jul 2009 17:59

So Rafa, after chasing Barry for a year, is now complaining that he chose Citeh for the money. Like Liverpool weren't going to increase his Villa salary if he had gone to Anfield.

And then, after chasing Barry for a year, he is now warning Alonso and Mascherano not to be tempted by other clubs. Worried in case he loses them.

Live by the sword, die by the sword chum.

Rafa was a plonker last year - he should have signed Barry then and not bothered signing Keane, so he only has himself to blame on that front.

I really don't see why Rafa is complaining

Liverpool didn't even get a bid accepted for Barry. Citeh were the only ones, so it's not BArry's fault they offered to pay him that much

I don't understand the post comparing his comments on Barry to those on Alonso and Mascherano. In each case, Benitez is asking for players to choose to play for Liverpool, as Johnson did, despite apparently receiving better salary offers from Chelsea and City.

The only issue as I see it is that he is paying Mascherano only £30k, something that will surely change this summer.

Re Barry, there aren't many footballing reasons to go to Man City. His decision is transparent.

I am not convinced. If City were the only ones that had a bid accepted them Barry may simply have chosen the team he felt had the best chance of getting in the Champions League before he is beyond his prime. That is not to say that the money wasn't a nice little bonus

Fair enough, possibly. But Liverpool's interest was well-known; as with all these things, like Ronaldo to Real, they happen in the end when the interest is prolonged. If he genuinely believes he will win more at City, then he has to be in the minority.

But then Terry's head has been turned too. Bizarre world at the moment, is football.

The comparison is that Benitez actually did unsettle Barry, now he's asking for his players not to be unsettled by Madrid and Barcelona. Like Fergie, you can't have it both ways.

He's bitter and annoyed that he hasn't got the financial clout that City have, which shows through in his interviews when he's lost out on a player. There's only one reason Barry went to City, anybody else who goes there would probably go for the same reason and anybody saying otherwise is kidding themselves.

For the challenge and potential glory of taking an under-achieving massive club to the very pinnacle of the football world? To be there at the start of a revolution.

Yes?
