bigshaka'away' indeed it is missing its idiot, i moved from hurst to reading some time ago. Despite the lexicon of vile directed at me for this post, i will still be correct. Yes his attitude was lacking, but him or Shane Long? - your choice.

about him not wanting to leave?

Long please. And I think Long is pretty rubbish.

If someone doesn't want to stay with us and has stated that several times - and was also responsible in a big part for most of the disharmony ad bust-ups that happened in the dressing room - I fail to see why it it could possibly be worthwhile paying him more money to keep him for more of the same.

Remember how we were doing before he came back from Norwich in January? Never thought he's one of the biggest reasons it all went wrong from then?

Its no huge loss, but if you give Lita chances or half chances he is usually deadly, we have not really been a creative team in the last year or two.

Like he was against Newcastle? Like he was with that header against Watford last season...

And that's just off the top of my head. He was woeful for two years with us and had many chances and half chances he cocked up more spectacularly than even Kebe has yet managed.

granted but for all of us who were there at the watford game (we scored goals, my god!) the crowd were chanting his name, indeed he seemed the most popular man in the stadium that night, and he scored. After that he was dreadful, but then who wasnt (apart from norwich away).

Spot on Ian.

Remember this from October 2006?

Having seen most of Reading's games this season I am now frustrated and bored of watching Lita. I actually think he works very hard, and is very strong for a small bloke, but if you analyse his performances they are identical every game.

He never looks like keeping possession for any more than a split second, he never looks like getting into a position where he can score, he makes some great leaps and wins headers he has no right to, but that's always in the middle of the park, he just is there, on the pitch, running about a lot, and that's all. Long causes far more problems for the defenders when he comes on.

At the start of the season I thought Lita was one who would do well in The Premiership and thought he would end up being the preferred partner for Doyle, and I still felt that last month, but now I've changed my mind, which doesn't happen very often. Premiership defenders ALL put him in their pocket and keep him there. Doyle is finding it hard as well, but always seems to create a chance or two no matter who he is up against.

I can't wait for Kitson to get back. All he needs is his fitness and he'll be in the team.

In the meantime, we have nothing to lose by starting a game with Long as he can't be less effective than Lita.

I love how many people on here are so expert about what our players get up to away from the line of RFC duty. What revelations are next? Jeff Hopkins was a transvestite? Steve Death carried out the Moors Murders?

I am not overly fussed about Lita going in all honesty, provided he and Doyle are adequately replaced pronto. Ok, I'll even accept Lita or Doyle being replaced. I will, of course, look forward to bringing this thread back to the top when he scores against us next season as he ineviatbly will 8)

0.5 Nicky Forster = 0.6 Noel Hunt = 0.7 Shane Long = 0.25 Kevin Doyle = Leroy Lita

I watched the second half of that match, and the ball was played into Lita's feet just twice in 20 minutes (he also won it a couple of times of his own accord). If Middlesbrough are going to persist with long balls, then the signing of Lita will prove a waste of time.
