Compared to Derby's £1m, it's not bad. What did we get for those agent fees?

Little loan, Kitson loan, Tabb signed, Armstrong signed. Anyone else? I suppose this would include any new contracts given to players too.

Fees = plural

Agents' = possessive

Probably small ones involved in sending players out on loan. That covers a fair few for starters.

We have to foot the bill for sending players to clubs? Surely the club taking them covers the agent fees?

Fact or opinion? I just can't see how Reading would fit the bill when lets say, Brentford approach us to loan Ben Hamer. They surely pay the fee, however small it is.

Depends on the deal. If we're subsidising the wages (there's no way Brentford will be able to pay them in full) why wouldn't we subsidise the agent's fee if Brentford can't afford that?

We're not exactly talking about massive sums for loan deals.

True, but we are talking about a chairman that wouldn't chip in and help Exeter City a few years ago because he felt they could and should have ran thier business better. (It was Exeter wasn't it?)

At the end of the day, we're talking about 37 transactions, and just under 400k in agent fees. Most clubs loaning our kids can surely pay what in some cases here is about £4000.

From what I heard JM didn't help Exeter because one of his strongest principles is that all debts should be piad in full - so he will never let anyone off a debt.

Quite different from entering into a business arrangement that makes financial sense at the time - I'm not privvy to the details but I can see why they might want to pay agents' fees for loans - or maybe 50% of them?

rather disturbing that, considering how much the club apparently owes him.

Difference being that we get something out of the deal too. Brentford get a goalkeeper for a year or two, we get one of young keepers experience hopefully making him better.

IIRC the Exeter debt was a for the wages of a player we loaned them. They took the player on loan then it turned out they couldn't afford it, or decided not to pay it a year later. I think we had every right to get paid, why should we be subsidising other clubs who can't run themselves properly?

Why would we pay an agent for a loan deal? What exactly is agent negotiating on behalf of either the club or his player?

I'm not suggesting we don't pay them, as we clearly seem to. I just can't think what useful function the agent would have in the deal.
