UEFA to decide whether to ban Eduardo:

Fantastic stuff. I also note that Wanger said that Eduardo probably would not have complained if no penalty was awarded. But would he have complained if he had been booked for simulation? I think so.

Gus the teenage cow no doubt arsenal were better than celtic over the 2 legs (even though their first three goals were all very very fortunate)-that isn't the debate

i am just getting sick and tired of footballing cheats, a blatant dive by eduardo decides the tie but heh if his antics were out of the blue and unprecedented then fine i can let it go but when are these people going to be disciplined, there is retrospective suspensions for other offences so why not cheating which IMO is the worst sporting offence you can make, people like dropba and ronaldo have made a career out of cheating and canniving and gamesmanship and have not been punished for it-the result is it gets more commonplace and kids are even diving at school games now thinking it's cool to emulate the pcunts i mentioned above, something has to be done

Totally agree, these cheats that dive should be punished

Stooper Cheating is indeed becoming commonplace

The funniest thing about that is it's actually a Reading player hacking it off the line to save the "goal", from the perspective of the linesman who thought it went in anyway.

No mention of Damien Duff? Why not? I have seen him win far more penalties by diving than Eduardo et al. Ireland v. Spain in 2002 for the first penalty (God Bless Anders Frisk) was a travesty and the Duffer has done that countless times throughout his career.

papereyes
Just ban players who dive using replays after the game.

Who enforces that might be the issue, but certainly in the Premiership, I can't see why they don't have a panel comprising of a few ex-refs, a few respected ex players and managers who video review off-the-ball incidents, diving etc and make their recommendations to the Premier League for further action.

Make the current managers judge on players not from their own team. It would then make it interesting and they might not blame ref's so much for making a mistake! I'm not seriously suggesting this but I would like to see their reaction if it was put to them.

Ridiculous, we didn't cheat there - we didn't even claim for a goal. It was a referee mistake.

And how many of the 11 stepped forward and said it didn't go in?

Everyone who was certain that it hadn't. Each player knew that they'd not scored, but wasn't sure that someone else hadn't.

Eduardo's been charged, now I wonder how many more will be charged over this year's CL campaign?

Good. I now expect Ronaldo to get charged several times over this season.

Why does everyone always ignore that the a couple of years ago Italian FA started watching TV footage after matches and issuing suspensions for diving?

i think it's ridiculous to charge him and maybe even give him a 2 game suspension, the matter of the fact is the referee missed it, if they can punish him for diving after the game is over then they could hand Palace Freddie Sears goal (not that i want that to happen  ). its ubsurd to punish after the match is over, when so many times before Uefa, Fifa, the FA have all said the match is over we can't or won't do anything. Unless its violent conduct, or any other disciplinary issues then nothing should be done because its the referees fault.
