Rewarding the Supporters

by Terminal Boardom » 28 Aug 2009 14:31

Now, considering our wonderful start to the season, any chance of the club doing something similar?

Fans of Bayern Munich, who have made their worst start to the Bundesliga for 43 seasons, will get a chance to drown sorrows before Saturday's home match with champions Wolfsburg. The Bavarian club are to give away more than 7,000 litres of beer before the game as part of a sponsorship deal with a Munich-based brewery. The same deal also saw the players and coach Louis van Gaal dress up in traditional Bavarian costume, including lederhosen, for a photo shoot this week, Van Gaal was photographed grinning as he held up a half-litre of beer but the former Barcelona and Netherlands coach has had little else to smile about at his new club. Bayern have taken only two points from three Bundesliga games and are languishing in 14th place after Saturday's 2-1 defeat by promoted Mainz'

I think I might know the answer to this.

Given the return of 80s style football holiganism the chance of free beer being dished out at an English club is roughly zero.

The French mostly drink wine, though.

I thought that until recently when I blagged a mates ticket. The most amazing hot and cold buffet before the game, sandwiches and donuts and half time and more of the same after the game, but unfortunately no free booze. I was gutted, literally, on the food. Could not drink a drop after the game as I was still so stuffed. 5 different types of smoked fish. I was in heaven :D

FLTLR would have thought that supporters should feel honoured to just be allowed to pay to enter the magnificent theatre of dreams known as Madejski Stadium.

That should be reward in it's own right. Anything else is a bonus and you all should be damn grateful.

If Courage or any provider wanted to run a promotion and give away say 10 000 free beers in the concourses, provided the club agreed, I doubt there is anything anyone could do to prevent them.

It would be no different from Pepporami putting a free stick on every seat or dominos giving out free pizza at half time

Germany are proper moody these days- seriously seriosuly renowned for having a pop at each. They've not lost their city rivalries remotely.
