I have to say I smiled when I read that Celtic had a man sent off for diving and that Mowbray has since claimed Eduardo is responsible. I remember McGeady getting right in Eduardo's face and calling him a cheat (and etc.) on Wednesday too.

Before China blocked YouTube, I used to love watching Roy Keane get himself sent-off for diving against Blackburn!

Cheating oxf*rd thug! Deserves every bit of misfortune he ever has in his useless oxf*rd life!

I think the second yellow for diving was a bit harsh. The opposition player also went flying when he tried to pull out.

Stooper Cheating is indeed becoming commonplace

All 11 players told him his error, naturally.

The referee's decision is final.

Players are not supposed to dispute referee's decisions and anyway, most of the Reading players were confused about what had happened. If you're not 100% sure that there was an error, what should you do? You could ask, but you probably won't get an answer from somebody like a referee.

I agree with TMD here. Almunia made it very easy for the referee to point to the spot and it is he who is to blame for the decision, imo.

I actually thought that the foul on Arseshaving was more of a definite penalty than Rooney's penalty. Rooney's penalty was in every way similar to the way Andy Johnson earned a penalty for Crystal Palace against Reading in Reading's championship winning season. Kicked the football out of touch and fall over the keeper. As the football has been kicked out of touch, how was Rooney/Johnson going to score if the keeper had not touched them? It's quite obvious that both Johnson and Rooney went looking for the penalty.

It was shite goalkeeping and a needless foul but that's what it was, a foul. And a foul in the box = penalty.

I actually don't like when those sorts of penalties are given, should be an indirect free kick or nothing.

Of course actually judging the gamesmanship involved would be impossible without using tv cameras.

Watch at 1min - Rooneys leg drops before contact is made....i know that a penalty is given but he played for it, knowing that if he kicked the ball away the keeper will have no way of pulling out of the challenge.

I thought the yellow card was harsh though.

Rooney clips ball past keeper, keeper slides into Rooney's path, both keeper's arms make contact with Rooney's legs, Rooney falls - PENALTY!

Rooney probably could have jumped over the keeper but the keeper still made a pointless challenge and paid the penalty.

I note that the ball was to Rooney's right, the goal is to Rooney's left. Do you think Rooney could have scored if Almunia had not fouled him? I doubt it.
