5th/6th official in Europa League

by TBM » 17 Sep 2009 21:32

Watching the Everton game I notice they have 2 extra officials (1 behind each goal)

Interesting - wonder what their involvment will be?

How they working out?

Uefa put them there as a result of 'simulation' didn't they? I'm not watching, but if they're on the wrong side of the goal, how can they be of any help? :|

Cos the lino is the other side

Having them watching on tv would be better if you ask me

The lino that is unreliable 9 times out of 10. Totally agree, all we need is some official on a monitor and it takes no more than 20 seconds for any controversial decision to be resolved.

It was the compromise solution when IFAB ruled out the use of goalline technology - so it's not just simulation, it's goalline decisions too.

Just keep the 3 officials, so what if mistakes are made, it is only a game after all.

Rugby is regarded as a "poorer" sport yet it has a video referee at every game.

I doubt they've got a video ref at Exeter University v Bristol University, so I reckon you may be right.
