Sweden 2 Denmark 2 2004

by Archie's penalty » 24 Sep 2009 23:57

Does anyone remember this game?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 787527.stm

The draw knocking Italy out of the tournament.

Now did I dream it or was there some kind of post-match press conference and the Italian press were grilling the two managers about cheating. The Swedish manager said there was no word for cheating in Swedish and the Italian looked aghast?

Or was it an urban myth?

The Danish keepers performance was piss-poor.

I have a vague memory that it wasn't just a draw that would knock Italy out, but a 2-2 draw. Not sure if this is correct or not.

If so then I would have defo piled money on the 2-2, put it that way.

Yep it had to be 2-2 for them both to go through. The final minute after it was 2-2 was pretty ridiculous. Still the Italians over-reacted to it all as usual (we would probably do the same no doubt!).
