Hoddle: England escaped bomb plot

Glenn Hoddle has claimed that England footballers escaped a plot to assassinate them during a match at the 1998 World Cup in France.

The former England coach said he was told there was a bid to blow up the substitutes' bench during the clash with Tunisia - England's first of the tournament.

I scrolled down to read the numpty comments and one really stood out, it had a Stoke badge:

Er, this guy obviously didn't read the article properly, Hoddle didn't know about it until recently, that's why he couldn't say much about it until now!

What would be the point in that? England are quite capable of self-destructing in tournaments anyway.....

I remeber reading about that in the NOTW a few years ago. Apparently suicide bombers where going to run on the pitch and grab the England players
