Beachball goal?

by Millsy » 19 Oct 2009 12:33

I don't think I've ever posted on this board but for once I think this is the perfect place.

I just wanted to get HNA's reaction to the beachball 'goal' that was allowed to stand.

I guessed there'd already be a huge thread about it here but maybe I'm being blind!

My opinion - should never have been allowed and a replay needs to be offered just like when we offered a replay for our non-goal at Watford.

What does HNA think?

Haha that's why I've not bothered with this forum. I've never seen the point of generic posts covering huge amounts as it totally misses the whole purpose of forums and focussed threads.

Why bother with forums - why not just have one forum with different posts/threads entitled "the team" "general football" "rumours" and we can all discuss everything in these threads surely!

Everything football related over the last weekend is a bit daft IMHO.

For those of you not wanting to wade through a whole generic post about football in general over the last few days, what are peoples' views on the beachball incident?

If you don't know the rule exists, can you really complain if it isn't enforced? If Benitez knew of it, he would have made more of it in his interview afterwards. Bruce made it clear he wasn't aware, and clearly the refereeing team had no idea either.

So I wouldn't say Liverpool are hard done by, it's just one of those things. Doesn't come close to our phantom goal, or Freddie Sears' legitimate goal that the referee missed.

Biggest question for me is why Reina hadn't booted the beach ball away, but I don't know when it was thrown on, if Sunderland were already on the attack then he might not have had time.

I think it was in the goal and the wind blew it out onto the 6-yard box....
