We must look on the bright side, in next seasons Division 1 (or old Division 2), we will have the best stadium of all the teams having taking our success and flushed it down the toilet and promoted the Great Goal Draught of 09 which is going to be worse then any Irish potatoe famine that either of the two deserters Hunty or Doyle have ever seen...

...speaking of them. Notice how they have started to play football now again...

DO YOU SEE?
"potatoe" - is that your Dan Quayle moment Thou Voice?
Hardly, his posts are littered with illiteracy.

Also there has only been one Irish Potato Famine and that was in the 1700's, so it's unlikely that Hunt or Doyle would have seen it but, as it only killed a million or so and displaced a million more, it is an obvious target for mirth innit.
1800's actually. But I share your distate for TV's cretinous reference to that shameful episode. The population of Ireland has never recovered from the deaths and emigration that ensued. Perhaps not so much a Dan Qayle moment as an Alan Partridge moment?: "that's what you get for being picky about your food" Bit more important than a couple of players leaving a football club, surely TV.

I thought football was also a career choice. Personal progression and all that shebang.

Average home support for the 3 league games upto the Doncaster game is 15,405. The Cardiff away support was not included in Saturdays programme so cannot include that game.

For the same three games last season, Notts Forrest, Sheffield United & Doncaster Rovers the average home supporters attendance was17,727

Last seasons home support averaged out at 18,184 over the 23 home league games. Total attendance (home and away support combined) averaged out at 19,995.

Our lowest total attendance of last season, Blackpool 16,514, has already been 'beaten' twice this season with the Sheffield Utd (16,025) and Doncaster (15,697) gates.

So far we have 'lost' about 2,300 home supporters per game.

I imagine it will be a similar drop again next season in League 1.

So approximately the same number as the drop in ST holders. Hardly a surprise then.

Wait for it...

16,192

Fiddle!

There is no way that many walked through the turnstiles. They would have been lucky to have had 13,000 tops. What they have done is counted all ST holders and all other tickets sold. I think they may have added the number of golden gamble tickets sold as well as official programmes.

I was absolutely staggered when I saw that figure declared. Even allowing for the turnout of extra kids due to half-term etc. there is absolutely no way that that many people turned out for that game, given our awful home form, relegation position and the fact it was live on the tv. Must have counted all season ticket holders as having been in attendance!

I was surprised at 7.30 at the size of the queue to pick up tickets so there was a lot in addition to ST holders who as HSSC says are counted whether they come or not and have been so for at least 3 years.

It has been said before. Still not really sure of the point of publishing (to the general public as opposed to HMRC) figures for tickets sold, rather than actual bums on seats.

It would be very interesting/revealing/embarrassing to know how many actually did go for through the turnstiles for that game. The figures are obviously available to the club.

as it seems to be how every club does it we are hardly going to put out news that would make us look like a small club.

London Irish had more fans on Saturday v Leicester than we did on Monday evening v Leicester. Both were live on Sky so that wasn't a factor.

Can you think of any other differences between a Saturday and a Monday that may have had a bearing on attendance..?

One was a weekend, one a work day - LI gave away a number of comps to this one as the date was changed when the Reading game was moved as a thank you for the support they've been getting.

And RFC did a free ticket to Ipswich if you bought Leicester, as a thank you to casual fans.

tlcs 18 odd thousand at home and 3,300 were Watford supporters

Your thoughts ??
All season ticket holders are classed as attendees as the tickets are sold, does not take into account those who did not attend.

Actual attendance therefore much lower.
