I thought it was the song originally about honour but several rangers fans have commented it was " aiden mcanespie" they were singing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3eILZ6L ... re=related

Twas on a Sunday evening the sun was in the sky
As he walked his way to the Gaelic pitch never thinking he was going to die
But as he crossed the checkpoint the sound of gunfire came
The news spread through the border town Aiden McAnespie was slain

For years he was harassed by the forces of the crown
As he went to his work every day he left his native town
The soldiers swore they´d get him the reason no one can say
And sure enough they murdered him in cold blood that sunny day

Oh why did you do it?
Have you not the guts to say
You say it was an accident or even a ricochet
But like Loughgall and Gibraltar you´re lies are well renowned
You murdered Aiden McAnespie on his way to the Gaelic ground

The people heard the gunfire they came from miles around
They saw that you man lying there dying on the ground
His flow of life was ebbing fast and people they tried their best
That bullet wound it was far to deep it went right through his chest

Oh why did you do it?
Have you not the guts to say
You say it was an accident or even a ricochet
But like Loughgall and Gibraltar you´re lies are well renowned
You murdered Aiden McAnespie on his way to the Gaelic ground

That's crap! I was hoping it was maybe that recent Killers one, you know the overly camp one that has quite a singable chorus.

I think the silence should have been observed and think it was disgraceful to sing through it, I think the reason they did it was to wind up the nazi turds that have posted in this thread and fail to recognise their own shortcomings/racism/xenophobia

a lot of irish died, oh and I already said it was disgraceful

there are utter cretins within every big team's support

I don't like the way that ironically enough, rememberance day is morphing into some kind of "thou must obey" poppy fascism inspired by the likes of the daily mail.

I don't wear a poppy, does that mean I care less? I think a quiet moment of reflection is best here not a competition based around symbols and who is seen to be grieving the most - anyway each to their own and I do agree that any disrespect aimed towards those who gave their lives is absolutely wrong and disgusting.

Didn't hear any offensive chants or breaches of the minutes silence from a single one of the other league teams showing their mark of RESPECT. From the likes of Chester City up to United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham etc - all showed their RESPECT.

Yet Celtic has to drag itself and Scottish football's name through the mud again. Why is that?

Not feeling the need to express remberance is one thing, going out of the way to disrespect it and enrage those showing their respects is downright scandalous.

Then to come on Reading FC's board where a young lad from the town was gunned down serving for this country earlier this year and try to reflect it away, really beggars belief.

"Reading FCs board" - Jesus, do me a favour, You are starting to sound like a cross between Enoch Powell and Senator joe McCarthy

and I haven't tried to reflect anything away, i am just looking at the bigger picture

I'll finish by saying yet again any Celtic fan who disrespected the soldiers who fought and died in ww1 is a disgrace

As does trying to score points in an argument by using that same awful death.

Who's scoring points here buddy? I'm merely highlighting it as an example as to why this year's rememberance campaign is more poignant to the yoof such as I following events this year.

Listened to a bit of Talksport on the way home from work yesterday and a few people called in (even fans of the opposition) to say that the Celtic fans singing were ones queuing to get from the concource to the stand and wouldn't have seen that a minutes silence was taking place

That fact that everybody was silent right before kick off might have given it away though.

I cannot see why football should get involved in this.
I attended the memorial service in my local parish on Remembrance Sunday, its my choice to do so.

And don't forget the 40,000 or so Irish citizens who fought with British forces during WW2 Gus.
