I rather wish I did feel numb. Every time I see them I feel about ready to blub.

I suppose it's all about the love, the happiness, the pride, the hope and the unfulfilled dreams that come bursting off the screen. Enke presumably knew his daughter was critically ill when the photos were taken but he obviously invested his entire being into loving the little girl with all he had and just couldn't recover from losing her.

Wow, this is really hurting for some reason. Old softy. Sniff sniff.

FiNeRaIn Terrible really, when you are a kid you are protected from all of the horrible things in life and your biggest worries are school and homework. Years later down the line you get hit by something that shows you the world isn't all its cracked up to be, your friends die, get terminal illnesses - people die in freak accidents that you care about. All you hear day in and day out on the TV is negative news about wars, economy crisis and death. You just aren't sheltered from the negativity anymore. Unfortunately, you have to harden up and accept there is a lot of evil out there topped with lots of horrible events that happen that you have no control over. That said, there is also a lot of love and good people. The best way to deal with it all is think and do the things that make you happy and try and be around the things that you value in life. For some people this is a lot harder to do than others. I obviously didn't know enke or his family and I can't relate to what he's been through, I feel sorry for the latter stages of his life that he obviously knew he couldn't cope anymore and I feel devastated for his wife who has lost a child and a husband. You can go to some very dark, lonely places in your lives and sometimes there is no coming back from that. Those pictures with his daughter make me absolutely numb.

RIP Robert Enke.

Very good post. I could not possibly withstand the death of someone so close to me. You invest your happiness, love and protective nurturing into your children. For that to be taken away from anyone is way too hard for me to contemplate. Being in the turmoil he was no doubt in after seeing his daughters grave, sadly on this occasion was probably too much for him to deal with on his own. Lets hope the rest of his family get the support that will be needed.

I'm not one to give advice to professional goalkeepers, but I do think Robert Enke should have come off the line a bit quicker.

Very sad. Yesterday, I watched the service held at Hannover 96's stadium. The tragedy really seems to have shaken an entire nation to the core.

Depression is an appalling illness that is is given scant regard by people who just say '...oh, why don't you just cheer up.'

One of the first things that depression takes away from you is self-esteem and suicidal thoughts and tendencies do follow unless quickly treated. And I am speaking from personal experience.

My thoughts are with Robert Enke and his surviving family. I hope his wife gets the love and support that she will need.
