I don't see anything on the official website about this, this flyer doesn't sound right?

As far as I'm concerned it's 100% official. The flyer looks genuine and the ladies were wearing RFC polo tops

Nothing there. However, I see that there's £5 off on tickets for the Crystal Palace game on 8th Dec. Sounds like the one for me.... :)

Yep, saw these as well. There are also people in the town centre handing them out.

I got offered a flyer on my way to work this morning, rejected it though as I'm a STH who is being shafted by these non-stop deals & promotions !

Season ticket no doubt still works out cheaper unless you miss some games which is your look out really

Further evidence of rip-off Reading FC. No more STs for me!

And SF, occasionaly, there are things more important in life than a football match.

This is actually evidence of Reading not being a ripoff, they are offering discounted tickets.

If you feel you don't get the most out of buying a ST then don't buy one, nobody's forcing you to!

Yes, there are more important things in life than a football match, knowing this at the start of the season may affect your decision to buy a ST!

I dont think that ST holders do get that great a deal. Considering that they are prepared to part with a substantial amount of money in advance, it's not that much of a discount. I wonder how the club would react if NO-ONE renewed their STs and instead booked tickets on a game by game basis thus taking advantage of special offers? I just get the feeling that the club takes its supporters for granted.

I'd much rather the club run these kind of offers potentially putting a few extra bums on seats than choosing to ignore any floating fans because they didn't or couldn't stump up £400 in June.

Once I've paid for the ST, something I decide to do (or not) moths before a ball is kicked, I'd rather that I watched a football match in a stadium which is fuller, with a better atmosphere.

I don't feel that someoen else getting an advantage means that i'm automatically getting a disadvantaged - in the same way that when I fly or go by train I'm well aware that most people on the plane/train paid different rates according to when they booked, but I don't get uset about it.

Agreed, though I hope someone at STAR is keeping a running total of these offers. I believe the club made an undertaking to you about the value of the ST not being greater than the sum of individual deals.

Just to keep them honest like.

Could you prepare a business plan showing how it would work ?
What price are you proposing to sell ST at ? What differential would you expect (and guarantee) between ST and match tickets ?

The price of football is obscene, it is a supply and demand situation, however lack of demand does not always mean the supply is cheaper. Fans are asked for as much as clubs think they can get out of them. to be honest it is almost a surprise with JM, as he made his money from a little bit each week from millions, which is a sounder long term strategy, rather than try to get a lot from a few.

£15 to watch a championship match is abouit right tho IMHO.

A BP showing how what would work?

How's this for a cop out? As I don't have the inside track on the day to day running costs of Reading FC and the myriad of other businesses associated with the FC, it is impossible for me to come up with a cost proposal for STs and one-offs.

What is guaranteed is that if the cost was less, people would spend more. The cost of the refreshments is obscene. OK, I don't have to buy any, I could "refuel" elsewhere or I could take my own. It is £30 to watch Palace at Selhurst. How long before we charge similar amounts? And for what???

I have read nothing to change my mind about my feeling that the club takes its supporters for granted. They will charge as much as they think they can get away with.

Then stop fricking whining. You pay for a cheaper ticket for EVERY game with the GUARANTEE of a specific seat. If you don't like the deal don't take it up. You know there will be deals offered for specific games throughout the season for non-STHs. There have been for years.

Basically what I'm saying is put up or shut up.

Perhaps RFC could try a novel approach, make the south stand a bargain area, £15 for adults, and £8 for concessions for the rest of the season, and if they have to, do the same for away supporters as well. Similar prices or whatever the unwritten rule is.

That would put a limit on the number of these seats offered, and would mean they are not for sale in stands where others have paid a little more for their ST seat.

It would give the club an insight into how many fans can afford and are willing to sit in that area for that type of price. Thye already know which areas are the least popular with ST seats, and pre match, they need to use that information much better IMHO.

They've been charging those prices for some time now so if we were planning to follow suit surely we'd have done it already?
