He actually said on Saturday "I could have told the fans that we were in a period of transition this season, but I want to push for promotion" or words to that effect - and I said earlier on in this thread that he would have been better off "telling the fans we were in a period of transition this season!"

You earn success, not just money. Have a cheap dig though, it's far easier to do that then take comments in context.

What surprises me is that we never seem to look at (or rate) Bournemouth players when we have willingly loaned them our players.
Wade Elliott,now a Premiership player,went to Burnley for about £200,000.
Stock went to Preston and Doncaster for £150,000
Matt Mills was on loan (as was Ryan Bertrand)
Sam Voakes went to Wolves for just £400,000
I'm not saying that we should and could have gone for these or any others but I do wonder what our scouting network is like.
The likes of Pulis and Davies at Forest always seem to snap up players but our links seem very limited to predominantly Brentford,Chelsea (Howard was at Chelsea as a youngster plus Cummings and Bertrand)and the manager's most recent club-Watford for McAnuff and Rasiak and the sad attempt at signing Smith.
Stock is at Doncaster where Mills came from.
With Austin,Lampard snr,McDermott etc I would hope that we are continuously looking far and wide at players.
