I recommend Omiga for you Leon, it's cheaper than White Lightning and tastes slightly better if you want to get smashed on a budget every night.

No, I did a couple of times at uni when money was tight. Should suit you to a tee though.

I reckon he defo reads this board! He actually said on Saturday "I could have told the fans that we were in a period of transition this season, but I want to push for promotion" or words to that effect - and I said earlier on in this thread that he would have been better off "telling the fans we were in a period of transition this season!"

This week, I'd like to tell him that he should tell Mr Madejski he's happy with the strike force we've got and we don't need anyone else in on loan or to buy. (Seeing as he ignores what I suggest to him, we should end up with a new striker soon!)

From Saturday's Mirror:

Rodgers celebrates one year as a manager on Monday and spent the international break meeting and talking to other managers in an attempt to pick up new ideas.

He says the highlight was listening to Ferguson speak at a League Managers Association dinner in London.

"He was very open and honest and spoke about the slow starts he had in his managerial career at places like Stirling, St Mirren, Aberdeen and Manchester United where he had a notoriously slow start," said Rodgers.

"I haven't had the greatest of starts myself either at Watford or here at Reading where the expectations are greater, so it was inspiring to hear that he had the same experiences.

"I have done my best to use the break wisely. I always think the more you learn the more you earn."

You earn success, not just money. Have a cheap dig though, it's far easier to do that then take comments in context.

Rodgers has also been linked with a £1.5million move for Doncaster Rovers’ star midfielder Brian Stock.

Royals’ boss declined to rule out a move for the 27-year-old in the future.

He said: “He’s a very good player, an outstanding player, but he’s a player at another club.

“He’s done very well for Sean O’Driscoll at Doncaster and he’s a full Wales international.

“But I’m not in the business of talking about players at other clubs.

Err you just did, oh and 'Tommy Smith wants to join us'

Brenda creeps around the Chairman on the OS today - ' the Chairman's a great man, if you're in a lifeboat you'd want him beside you.'

SJM used to be a good financial lifeboat but he's a poor man now.

Following the Derby match, Rodgers said (BBC Sport Website):

"We are very disappointed with the result. We spoke afterwards and our game management when we were 1-0 up was disappointing.

"It's hard to understand because we have clearly picked up in the last three or four games and achieved targets we set ourselves and we looked comfortable."

By "our game management" there, I presume he means the team's rather than the management's management? So is this jargon for, "we did not defend our lead properly"? Rodgers, you must take some blame for the game management, since you took Sigurdsson off, who had scored the goal which put us in the lead. It's not rocket science, though you make it sound like it.

Yes, we have picked up in the last three or four games, but the games against Leicester, Ipswich, and Blackpool were close. "Comfortable" isn't a word you could ever use about Reading this season, Brendan, except perhaps against Barnsley and Coventry. I hope this defeat is not "hard to understand" for you. We need you to understand it and act accordingly.

What surprises me is that we never seem to look at (or rate) Bournemouth players when we have willingly loaned them our players.
Wade Elliott, now a Premiership player, went to Burnley for about £200,000.
Stock went to Preston and Doncaster for £150,000
Matt Mills was on loan (as was Ryan Bertrand)
Sam Voakes went to Wolves for just £400,000
I'm not saying that we should and could have gone for these or any others but I do wonder what our scouting network is like.
The likes of Pulis and Davies at Forest always seem to snap up players but our links seem very limited to predominantly Brentford,Chelsea (Howard was at Chelsea as a youngster plus Cummings and Bertrand)and the manager's most recent club-Watford for McAnuff and Rasiak and the sad attempt at signing Smith.
Stock is at Doncaster where Mills came from.

With Austin,Lampard snr,McDermott etc I would hope that we are continuously looking far and wide at players.

Right!

"Young Tabby’s been outstanding filling in and he’s done well. He was playing against a very good young player the other night that I know everything about, Victor Moses."

Well, Big Watch Man, remind me how well that went on Tuesday?

He really is a useless, stupid, idiot. Get rid now!

Soundbite central from today's post-match interview.

Rodgers I've known the support here a long time. Obviously they're frustrated as well but the majority see how the project is going.

Rodgers I won't make excuses. I want to help this club progress, the biggest thing is managing expectation because of success here before. We're not there any more, this is the journey we're on now.

The only journey you'll be going on is the one to the Job Centre, pal.
