WEDNESDAY TICKETS BEEN REDUCED?

by I was there at Elm Park » 02 Dec 2009 17:16

http://www.swfc.co.uk/page/TicketNewsDe ... 45,00.html

I've just seen that Sheff Weds have reduced tickets for Saturday's game to £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. BUT it is says only for home supporters!

I'm sure I've read somewhere that away supporters have to be charged the same amount as home fans in an area similar to the away one (e.g. we should be charged the same as their fans in the Kop as we're both behind the goal).

I might be wrong but if not could Star look into this. Wednesday are offering fans who've already bought tickets refunds and I personally think this should be offered to away fans too.

Just done a little google search and Macclesfield's website says, "the rules are that you can't charge away fans more than home ones for the same accomodation. This is part of Football League rules." (http://www.mtfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0 ... 81,00.html)

Might wait and pay on the day now instead of popping down the ticket office.

Here we go - quite possibly one of the most asked questions about ticket pricing.

Under Football League rules each club is allowed what they call "Local Promotions" where they can do home-fan only discounts - limted to four a season.

The relevant Football League rule is rule 31.2.11, which says

"Discounts or special promotions (in each case for one match only) made available to supporters of the the Home Club must also be made available on a similar basis to visiting supporters provided always that each Club shall be permitted to designate four (4) matches per season as 'local promotion' Matches where this regulation shall be deemed not to apply."

Okay that finishes this thread though it doesn't seem particular fair to away supporters.

It's not - not all clubs do it and it's always bad when it happens to your club. There's no reason that this couldn't be extended to visiting supporters.

The justification that clubs use is that they are spending "seed" money trying to build their local support and so it would be extra money they've not got spending it on away supporters - also that sometimes these promotions are paid for by local businesses and they'd not bother doing it if they also had to pay for non-local supporters.

Both arguments are a load of tosh, AFAIC.

If it helps, the officers of the Football League think it's a damn stupid rule, but there are enough clubs that like it - and enough clubs that don't care one way or another - that it doesn't get voted out at FL AGMs.

Got mine today and we've only sold 300-400. No surprise then that we're in the lower tier on Saturday.
