What an obnoxiously loud set of fans, shame reading will never have fans as loud and passionate as this.

Don't remember it being like that when I went to the Britania in 97. We won 4-0 there must have been about 8,000 there and you could hear a pin drop.

One Step Beyond by Walsall > torturously bad renditions of Delilah by Stoke.

And that clip really makes me want to make a first ever visit to Edgar Street.

Typical reading fans reactions, look at the comments from all the proper fans. This is exactly whats wrong with our fan base.

I don't really agree with you, FR. Nothing personal - and at the risk of sounding like Brendan Rodgers, I think you're a top poster - but we rarely agree 8) .

Reading's support has never been like, never will be. Stoke's support is legendarily thuggish. I admire their passion to an extent, but I'd always prefer not to be amongst knuckle-dragging neanderthals. I have been in enough vocal RFC away followings over the years to say that we have our moments, but never quite like that. RFC has no real history of success, therefore our fans tend to self-deprecating mickey-takers. I can recall an anorak clad York fan being serenaded to the strains of "do you shop at C&A?" for instance, then there is the years of McGhee abuse (remember a League Cup tie when he was on the verge of being fired by Wolves? The referee insisted on the ball being replaced and chants of "You're gonna get the sack" turned in an instant to "McGhee sat on the ball").

We've come up with a fair few fair mildly amusing refrains over the years, and which other bunch of supporters would sing a song about Bill Oddie and celebrate a Beard Day? You just have to shrug your shoulders and accept that we are what we are.

floyd__streete RFC has no real history of success,

Hmmmm, Simod Cup, the Championship trophy and a record 106 points? 13 wins in row from the start of the season? 2nd Division championship trophy, 3rd division championship trophy, Div 3 South championship trophy, 4th Division championship trophy? Steve Death's sequence of clean sheets?

No success at all? Yeah, right.

No real history of success - 5 lower-divisonal titles, one mickey mouse cup, a few spurious league records and two seasons of top flight football in 138 years. I did not say no success at all, but even Bury have reached an FA Cup final :| .

Agree with floyd here. Simod cup doesn't exist anymore and anyone of my age who doesn't support Reading doesn't know what it is.

We also have the worst FA Cup record out of everyone, being the oldest side never to reach the final.

Just a quick point....1 home win in 10 months and we still get almost 16,000 against Scunthorpe.

That's fcuking brilliant support if you ask me.

Seriously.

Half the fun of supporting Reading is that we've been almost comically mediocre.

There's 40, 50 clubs that have decent claims to be bigger than us. We're a bit small, we're a bit shit and that's why we're the fans we are.
