FAO: Reading bus users (Swansea)

by Compo's Hat » 21 Dec 2009 15:27

Just seen this and thought this would be the best place for this as it will be seen by the most people.

A full football bus service will operate on Boxing Day 26 December 2009 for the Reading v Swansea City match - kick-off 3.00pm.

Customers are advised however, that a £1.00 surchage will apply to all fares on this day.

Amazing isn't it how things associated with RFC whilst seemingly getting a considerable income still manage to run at a loss!!

Would be interesting to see how much a coach company would charge to hire a coach for say six hours on a local journey. Then divide that by the estimated number of users to and from the ground to get a per capita cost.

No, not really. It's a Bank Holiday. They're paying their staff time and a half, or double pay, just to get you to and from the football. Perhaps they should cancel the service altogether and you can walk, scam a lift, or not go at all?

I suspect you would get charged for a full day rather than 6 hours as neither the coach nor driver would do any other work.

You may find that you wouldn't get anyone to do it for less than Reading Buses charges (which would disappoint you I know)

Horseman would appear to work out at about £10 a head to hire a coach for a "local" afternoon event
