There are big question marks about the keepers-seeing Green struggle today ,the lost confidence of Foster relegating him to no.3 at Man Utd,the ongoing injuries for Kirkland and James.
The current first choice full-backs Johnson and Cashley are both weak defensively.
Gary Neville is past it and Wayne Bridge never had it.
The centre-backs,Terry and Ferdinand (Ferdinand in particular) have injury problems as do both Lescott and Upson and Woodgate...well,is he ever fit?
In midfield neither Lampard nor Gerrard are really firing and Gerrard continues to carry an injury.
Wright-Phillips is erratic but Milner,Barry and Lennon are all doing o.k but could we win a World Cup with those 3 playing?
Walcott gets injured easily and seems a bit soft.
Downing has just started playing again.
Beckham isn't playing for anybody and has looked slower than ever.
Joe Cole-too many flicks and not enough accuracy and he looks even slower since his injury.
Heskey and Crouch-Zamora is now being mentioned which shows that these two don't have enough in their games to make an impression against good sides.
The same goes for Defoe-5 at home to Wigan is fine but substituted yesterday when not getting a look-in against physical defenders. As yet hasn't shown that he can do it against the big boys.
Owen? Will he get enough games and be sharp enough?
Rooney?
Will he just be too knackered by June after spending too much time chasing the ball like a schoolboy in areas where he isn't needed?.
There will be opportunities for others to stake a claim and of course there is a long way to go before June for players to find form (positive) but also time(negative) to lose form or get injured.
If the tournament were to take place now IMHO we would have no chance but it will be interesting to see who starts on June 12th (?).
Have I missed anybody apart from Wes Brown and Phil Neville?
